“A tiny, Byzantine church, dedicated to Our Lady, located on the top of a hill which offers breathtaking views. The road to Tsambika monastery turns off the main road, some meters before the road to Tsambika beach. The road will take you half way up the hill. After this point, you need to walk up the hill, following 350 steps. It's perched high at 300 m with commanding coastal views, both north over Kolymbia and south over Tsambika beach until Lindos, which makes it worth, to climb up. According to the legend, any woman having problems getting pregnant should go up there barefoot, to pray to the Virgin and she will be blessed with children. The saints day is the 7. September.”

“Amartos is located on the western road of the island on the main road from Kritinia to Siana, between mountains and valleys stands the Holy Monastery dating from the Middle Ages. Its name was probably taken from a French nobleman Amarto who had a tower there and still exists in semi-ruined condition. Near the steep hill there is a small cave, the Agiopetra, where the miraculous icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary was found. Holy water drips from a rock. It is miraculous for mental and physical illnesses.”

“Eleousa-Dimilia 34km from Kritinia. Apart from the natural beauty of the villages, the visitor has the opportunity to admire and feel the cool waters of the famous Koskigniotis spring. In the artificial circular lake, a small fish, gizani, have been developed and swim. Gizani is an endangered species and live only on the island of Rhodes .The historical chapel of Agios Nikolaos of Fountouklis (Monastery of Fountouklis) is preserved from the Middle Ages . The surrounding area "offers" tables, benches for picnic under the plan trees, designated bbq area. So despite the historical, religious interest for the 15th century church, you may start or end hiking, bicycle in the area and have a bite or more! ”

“ The main gate of the temple is Arabic writing the date 1060 and another left point of the central date 1222. It is obvious that the Byzantine tradition dating based on ancient measurement, so the numbers will have the form of value '& as'kv' respectively. A possible explanation is that the first date to have been the first temple and the second to be molded. Perhaps our ancestors preserved late delivery write these years as years of Creation in order to preserve the tradition. To remember that time (1060) was Byzantine emperor Constantine Doukas (Times Komnenian) 3 just before the Crusades (1096).”
