We have spent a lot of time making our apartment a home since we moved here recently, and we hope that you will enjoy it! We will away for almost a month, and are happy to welcome an Airbnber to our place while we are gone.
Citizen of the world whose had great experiences with generous hosts abroad. I'd like to return the favor and help a fellow traveler enjoy my wonderful city!
Dual citizen, artist, born and currently resident New Yorker (though I still have my FOB moments, thanks to my immigrant parents), a bit of a news and political junkie.
It's important to me to have a positive impact on the world around me and my community through the arts and advocacy. I never want to stop learning (learning French at the moment just cause, and I hope to get to Arabic eventually). Not good at sticking to routines and I haven't managed to stay doing the same thing for more than a little over a year, though I often crave stability since I've lived abroad and moved around a lot. I've made peace with the fact that I'm a nomad still figuring things out one day at a time.
My self-summary: dual citizen, artist, born and currently resident New Yorker (though I still have my FOB moments, thanks to my immigrant parents), a bit of a news and political junkie.
What I’m doing with my life: I juggle working as a grassroots strategist for a Democratic political consulting firm with a professional performance arts career - there is never a dull moment!
I’m really good at: breaking the ice, scrapbooking, multitasking, thrift store shopping, trivia, trip planning and (and blending in - helps to look ethnically ambiguous!), writing thank you notes, keeping in touch, singing & acting (getting paid for it is always a nice perk!) and cooking (though not baking, too many measurements!).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food: I read Ill Fares the Island recently and loved it. Anything by Michael Lewis and Robert Caro gets me talking. Don Quixote and Letters to a Young Poet sit on my bookshelf and I look to them when I'm needing some inspiration. Lifelong fan of Bladerunner (why parents let me watch it in elementary school I still have no clue). Glengarry Glen Ross made me want to be an actor. My favorite artists are Louise Nevelson, Ana Mendieta, Alexander Calder, and James Rosenquist. I dressed inadvertantly like Frida Kahlo as a kid, so I love her, too. I'm a very unpicky eater; I cant live without Mexican food, I crave halal and I never order the same thing on a menu. As a working musician, I have an open ear and a genuine appreciation for live and acoustic music of every kind.
The six things I could never do without: family, friends, food, faith, the outdoors, sleep, music, dancing...and Netflix.
I spend a lot of time thinking about:...how to finish creative projects that I'm working on and what book I should read next. My mind works faster than my hands and it makes me anxious! Debating whether or not to go back to grad school...
