Live & Breathe VT! Yoga Studio

Welcome to our Jamaica farmhouse, a place with space to live and breathe the beauty that Vermont has to offer. Simple, authentic, and perfectly close to the village, yet quiet and serene. The peaceful sound of water over stones can be heard from the brook outside the front door. Minutes away from the slopes and other outdoor activities, the entire house is a library- a real treasure for those days one might rather curl up by the stove. The attached yoga/ meditation studio is completely private (windows and skylights face away towards the mountains and the back of the 2 acre property.
Physical Description/ Walk Through:
The house has an attached barn with covered parking for one car and an insulated room to remove and store ski equipment. The hallway between the house and barn leads to the kitchen, a yoga studio with Buddhist shrine, and a fenced in dog yard that backs up to our summer cabins. The kitchen and dining area are together. There is a small wood stove at the far end of the dining area. Also downstairs is a living room with a large wall mounted TV and wood stove, a den/guest bedroom with a full bed, and a bathroom with a shower and laundry.
The second floor has a large master bedroom with a Queen bed and work desk, and a small single bedroom. The rooms share a full bathroom that is accessible from either bedroom.
The 3rd floor is a converted attic that is a great room for kids. There is a trundle bed, a single bed and a full futon couch, so it can sleep up to 5 people. There is a 1/2 bath and a television upstairs.
The Village:
The town of Jamaica, just steps away, is a friendly Vermont village with a coffee house, artisan shops, post office. D & K's Country Store in town has everything you could need in a pinch. There are always seasonal festivals and local activities. Jamaica State Park is also a quick, and beautiful walk from the house.
The Area:
There is a wonderfully healthy Co-Op in Brattleboro, a grocery store in nearby Londonderry and every kind of shopping, including designer outlets, in Manchester. Enjoy the many restaurants also nearby- from diners to gourmet award winning dining. Please feel free to ask me for recommendations!

You will have access to the all areas with the exception of cabins on the back of the property which will be locked.

Please enjoy the house, barn and our beautiful Palden Sayka center!

We have a great caretaker who is resource on all things " Jamaica" and will show you the property. Once you know your arrival time, he will coordinate to show you around the property. My sister Julie and I are always available by phone or email with any questions!

Pets- We love animals and are Pet Friendly, but we have to approve your pets on a case by case basis. Please let us know if you plan on bringing your furry friends so we can try to accommodate you.

Smoking- No smoking is permitted inside the home under any circumstance.

Trash- Clean up all trash, and take out to the 2nd room in the Barn if you don't have time to get to the Town Dump down the road. We don't want any guests leaving trash inside the house.

Generally. Please leave the house the way you received it. It is a special place for us, and we want to keep it that way.

This was our second time staying at this delightful house. It is roomy, with a well arranged kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, a fabulous Buddha garden in back of the house, a very extensive library and the lovely sound of a stream just a few feet away. The place is within walking distance of the main entrance to Jamaica State Park, the site of Hamilton Falls. It is also a quick drive or longer bike ride to Pikes Falls. A few blocks away on VT 30 there is now a really good new place for breakfast and lunch called Workhorse Cafe. I recommend a drive to the Brattleboro Food Co-op to stock up. Overall, we are again very pleased with the place, our hosts, and the neighbor who takes care of the place and is a wealth of helpful suggestions.

Our group enjoyed staying in Ruthie's house. It was cozy, comfortable and exactly as described! The location is great and it's only 10 minutes to Stratton Mountain. Ruthie was very responsive to my emails. She made sure the local care taker was there to promptly meet is when we arrived. Thanks for a great trip to Vermont!

Ruthie was easy to get in touch with prior to the trip and responded promptly when I had questions about the house as well as the area. The house itself was a great place to stay. We had 10 adults and had enough room to spread out in the house with the beds that were available and two air mattresses in the living room. The space was clean and had plenty of space for us to hangout when we weren't skiing. The house is a quick 15 minute drive from Stratton mountain and we had not trouble getting there during the holiday weekend. I would definitely recommend this house to friends if they were looking for a place to stay and go skiing for the weekend.

Place was great, exactly as described with very nice bedrooms and lots of room. Everyone's favorite part was the yoga studio, which is an amazing space to have. Came in useful for all the pre and post mountain stretching (Place is only minutes from Stratton). Hosts were very flexible and accommodating. Would definitely come back here again.

My family and I spent a ski weekend at this lovely Vermont house - just 9 miles from Stratton Mountain. The house was exactly how it was described in the description and I love the charm and character. The kitchen was fully equipped and had plenty of place settings, utensils, etc. The house is spacious, warm and cozy and the couch and oversized chair are comfortable. The TV in the attic was a plus for my kids and there is wifi as well. The beds all had fresh linens - so no need to bring your own. We did bring our own towels. Ruthie was very easy to deal with and extremely prompt in her communication. We will definitely be back in the near future. This was my time booking through Air BNB and I had a very enjoyable experience.

Great place, as described, would like to come stay again!

This lovely, spacious house (with attached Yoga studio) sits next to a river. Each night the babbling brook was soothing to listen to. The place was well equipped and easy to use. The house is filled with books, art and other items of interest. My wife, children and poodle felt at home from the start. The town is nicely situated near Pikes Falls and Hamilton Falls, as well as a major park. We were 15 miles from Weston, home of the Vermont Country Store and about 17 miles from Manchester. We biked everyday up to Pikes Falls. And next door neighbors David and Frannie were available for questions and help. By the way, one is near the restaurant SoLo, as well as Kinhaven Music School. We would definitely return to this place on our next visit to Vermont. Excellent hosts.
