Studio Apt on Sunny Potrero Hill
Studio Apt on Sunny Potrero Hill

Location, location, location--Potrero Hill is where it's at!!! Potrero Hill is a great neighborhood in San Francisco bordered by SOMA to the north, the DogPatch to the east and the Mission to the west. It is centrally located and is less than 5 minutes from the major SF arteries--the Bay Bridge, 280 South and 101 South (only 20 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge). It is also known as the sunniest spot in SF. If you're a baseball fan, we're just 5-10 minutes from the ballpark (so close you can walk to a ballgame). The unit is a clean, modern, fully functional studio apt located on the top (3rd floor). It is a mixed use development and the studio sits above a Whole Foods on the ground floor...very convenient! There are multiple restaurants within easy walking distance...a couple are "3 Stars" per Potrero Hill resident and food critic Michael Bauer. We're just a few blocks south of the Design Center and near major employers such as Zynga, AirBnB, Adobe, Autodesk, etc.

Your hosts--My wife and I have lived on Potrero Hill for 20 years and love it. We live just two blocks from the studio apt so if you get locked out or need assistance, one of us can meet you there literally in minutes. We are easy-going and want you to enjoy your stay in our beautiful city whether your travelling for business or hear for fun or both!

About the unit--The unit has a full kitchen, full bath, two closets, a full washer/dryer, flat screen TV with cable, Wifi and most importantly a Keurig Coffee maker :-) It sports a built in queen-size Murphy bed which can easily be pulled-out or retracted depending on your space needs. If you're travelling alone, the unit has good security with a fob for entry from outside. If you have a car, there is one gated parking space below the development.

It's a well-planned, clean unit ideally suited for an individual or couple.

Scott was an amazing host! very communicative and friendly

Scott was great and very accommodating. Would love to stay here again!

My fiancé, dog, and I stayed at Scott’s place for four weeks. It was a great experience! The inside of the unit was very clean when we arrived and decorated nicely. There was so much natural light in the unit – the pictures don’t do it justice! The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed – dishes, utensils, pans. The TV was nice – had a DVR and all the channels we could possibly want. The Wi-Fi was great as well. The unit has its own modem so it was very fast and we never had any problems. What we loved most about the unit was the modern amenities (shower, appliances, etc), washer & dryer (in unit!), and storage. The unit is small but there were two huge closets and tons of storage around the bed - plenty of space for us to store our things! The building the unit is in was very safe – FOB access from all outdoor entries and indoor entry to the unit. The building was always clean and quiet. Another great plus, was we had our own covered parking spot. A covered parking spot is almost necessary because there are a lot of break-ins in San Francisco. Before our trip, I didn’t know much about the neighborhoods in San Francisco. Now, if I describe Potrero Hill, I would describe it as safe, quiet, family-friendly, and very hilly with awesome views of the city. We really enjoyed the Whole Foods below the unit. It was so convenient to have it there for any forgotten groceries or to grab a quick dinner. We loved the Steep Brew restaurant that was a part of Whole Foods. We went to the ‘Happy Hour’ there a few times, where they serve dollar off wine glasses ($3 and a huge glass of wine!). Another great area of Potrero Hill is 18th Street - two blocks from the unit. There are several restaurants and coffee shops on this street. We enjoyed brunch at Plow. It also has great dinner options that aren’t crowded – Italian, French, Mediterranean, etc. Often we would go to Market Street or Fisherman’s Wharf and we found the best way to get there was by Uber. The walk was too far, the bus takes too long, and driving and parking in these more populated areas is not always the easiest. With bringing a dog, I was a little worried before our trip about finding her somewhere to go outside to play and potty. She adjusted quickly to small squares of grass and cement. Close by, and all uphill, was a nice park called “McKinley Square”, where dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. We also loved taking her to Mission Bay Dog Park – a short five-minute drive. It was a great dog park – clean and well kept and all the dogs were nice! Scott was a great host. His communication was very quick and he was very easy to work with!

The studio is clean and convenient with a whole foods market nearby. I had some problems with smokers downstairs and in the courtyard. Their smoke came into the unit every morning and evening. I don't think there's anything Scott could have done about it, but it's something to be aware of if you have allergies or are concerned about second hand tobacco smoke. The smoke detector in the apartment had been removed. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay.

Stayed at Scott's place for about 6 weeks while waiting for my stuff to arrive from the East Coast from my move. HOST: Scott was very accommodating and more than willing to communicate. When our stuff was delayed from NJ he was happy to work with us to extend our stay. We didn't encounter any issues with the studio, but I'm confident that if something would have happened Scott would've been more than reasonable about meeting whatever concerns there were. NEIGHBORHOOD: Portrero Hill is still on the rise and is located just a tad bit away from much of the action. It's a fairly short uber ride to anywhere in the city. What's cool about the neighborhood is that Anchor Brewing is located about 2 blocks away, super convenient if you like beer! The hills are steep and overall there just isn't much to walk to but overall it's a pretty good neighborhood. BUILDING: The building has a designated parking spot in a garage located in the lowest level of the building, which makes it super convenient. The building is safe, clean, and located above Whole Foods, which made it very convenient to run down for any needs we had. There's also a gym in the building that has a few treadmills, ellipticals and a small selection of weight equipment; but plenty for the essentials. UNIT: The unit itself has all of the essentials you could need. Major bonus for having a washer and dryer. It has the basic few pots and pans you need if you choose to cook. There are 2 recliners to watch tv, a table with 2 chairs to sit if you wish to eat or work (I used it for a desk for work), a Murphy bed and a tv. There's also plenty of storage between the closet and the drawers built into around the bed. The unit gets pretty hot as its located in a corner and doesn't benefit from much airflow but Scott has a window AC unit that comes in exceptionally handy. OVERALL: A great place to stay for convenience and relative closeness to the action. It's quiet and ideal for anyone on a short business trip or a longer stay as I had. Book here with confidence as the host is very good and the unit very nice.

Scott was very prompt in meeting me at the location once I arrived from the airport. He helped me with my luggage and even walked with me up to the apartment to show me around and make sure I did not have any questions...very easy going. The location was perfect and the studio apt. was just enough room for myself and possibly one more if you have someone with you. Less then a 5 minute walk to my office, Whole Foods right below the apartment and a Starbucks on the next block (and great sushi across the street). An added bonus...the location is very secure with key fob access in and out of the building. A++ I will be making arrangements to stay here again next time I'm in town. Thank you for the amazing accommodations during my stay!!!

Scott was very kind to host my company's remote team member from out of town! He really enjoyed his stay and would recommend Scott's apartment to anyone in the area. :)

Originally from Phoenix, AZ where I was born and raised until I left for college in the Bay Area. I fell in love with my future wife and we took up residence in San Francisco (my wife's birthplace) and now call it home with our dog and two boys. Hard to believe, but I've been in the Bay Area for almost 30 years and living in San Francisco for 18 of those years! What's not to love about San Francisco!?! I think this sums it up...I used to get sad...maybe even depressed when returning home from a vacation. I have never felt that way since living in San Francisco. I could be anywhere in the world (Hawaii, Europe, etc.), and I always look forward to coming home to San Francisco. I'm an avid sailor and there is no back yard like the San Francisco Bay. Can you say "America's Cup" :-)
