Eloise is an excellent host who offers a wonderful house with lots of charm and history. It's very comfortable, quiet and you receive a warm welcome. If you regularly stay at the nearby La Posada hotel you should definitely consider switching to Eloise's "Happy Trails" home. She provides a much more friendly and personal experience! It's like staying with a friend of the family!
Bruce and Soozi! thank you for such a generous review. Please come again and don't forget Hooper and Rae!

Great place with a beautiful old school charm. Very clean & Eloise is very sweet & knowledgeable.
Thank you for your review. I was pleased that you enjoyed your short stay. Travel Safe.

Eloise's house to such a wonderful place to stay. It is very comfortable and includes a great kitchen for preparing meals and a supply of excellent coffee. There are interesting books and information about the southwest. The garden in the back of the house is a beautiful haven of peace and tranquility. We visited the clear creek recreation area a few miles away for a refreshing swim to escape the heat of the day. The house is easy to find, and the location is very convenient to visit the petrified forest to the east or as a resting point on route to the grand canyon to the north. We would like to visit again for a longer stay on our next adventure to the southwest.

Eloise is a great hostess. She has thought of everything to make her guests feel comfortable and welcome. She went above and beyond when my friend and traveling companion became ill during our stay. We hope to return someday under better circumstances.

Heading from New Mexico into Arizona i stayed a couple days at Eloise's place which is a nice house and a great backyard garden. Eloise is a well informed host, where many different aspects of life and all its surroundings can easily be discussed. As a foreigner i was welcomed into her house and felt very comfortable during my stay, she was very helpful when i had questions and we had great conversations between us. Eloise is living next door and was never intrusive but very friendly when we met at the backyard garden, there was always enough space and distance when required. Next time in AZ, i will be back and stay with Eloise, thank you for a good time, cya again, Andreas
Thank you for your kind words as I enjoyed getting to know you and would love to host you and your family during your next visit to the States. Travel safe and be well.

Wonderful home and Eloise was a gracious host! Beautiful decor throughout the home. Many classic Arizona antiques. Eloise provided all the necessary amenities and more. And walking distance to "Standing on the corner."

Great place to stay. A must stay if you are anywhere close to the area. Eloise was nothing but exceptional. Wish we had more time here, but what time we did have was excellent.
Thanks you guys, I hope you at least got a good nights sleep. Please try and come again as I know we could have had a good time now that you know there is a lot more to see and do in Winslow. I enjoyed meeting you.

It has taken me a while to respond to this part of the profile as I find it much easier to share what I love. I am a third-generation native Arizonan, born in Tucson, and have retired from several professions. I am a avid reader of history, philosophy, comparative mythology, and anthropology. I am a retired member of a Arizona plumbers and pipefitters union; a family trade that allowed me to attend graduate school at the University of Arizona where I studied art history, philosophy, anthropology, and comparative mythology. I later taught Art history and Humanities at the college level. I am from a ranching family and my late husband was a rancher who owned and operated a large cow/calf operation in Northern Arizona. I have been employed in the fields of historic preservation, natural resources, and rural economic development. I still am involved in several aspects of rural agri-business. I have been inducted into the Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame and been featured in the American Quilt Studies Group for contributing to the preservation of the fine art of hand quilting. I consider myself a full-time studio artist and have a large studio on site. I live in a 600 square foot casita I designed myself at the rear of the property.
I love to garden, haunt yard sales for real wood furniture and western memorabilia, I have been studying the poetry of Emily Dickinson for 40 years and consider her America's most brilliant poet. I also read western literature, such as Wallace Stegner, Barry Lopez, Willa Cather, Cormac McCarthy, John McPhee just to name a few. I love history, biographies, and the natural sciences, from Konrad Lorenz to Stephen Jay Gould. I subscribe to The New Yorker, and natural resource publications. Current social theory is also a favorite, Harold Bloom, Louis Menand, and bell hooks. I like very early country & western music, as well as Jazz, from Miles Davis to Billy Strayhorn, Clifford Brown and many more. I prefer Rachmaninoff to Mozart.
My motto besides "Don't Fence Me In," is "I don't care which branch of the tree you swing off of, just as long as you don't break any of the other branches for anyone else."
I would say that my style of hosting is that through good, clear communication through the Airbnb platform is to provide my guests with the optimum convenient experience on their journey, whether it be a quiet overnight stay away from the sounds of the freeway, or a longer stay of exploring the beauty of Northern Arizona in which Winslow is the center of. I particularly enjoy meeting like-minded people who are interested in nature, gardening, exploring the wonders of the Southwest, art, and great literature.
