Fritz was a delightful host and his cabin, while tiny, was perfect for my girlfriend and I. We spent 5 nights and enjoyed skiing up the hill at Royal Gorge XC during the day and tending the wood stove and a bottle of wine by night.
The local general store, just a short jaunt around the block was well stocked during our stay. The owner, Tony, retains an excellent wine selection, a handful of spirits, frozen foods, meats, breads, milk, canned goods and some delightful treats. They also offer competitive snowboard, ski & snowshoe rental rates! Be careful though, bacon, eggs and garlic bread go fast!
The nearby TART shuttle (picks up at the general store) is a pretty solid way to get to sugarbowl, though the schedule can be erratic in a snow storm. I would not recommend relying on the shuttle if you have ANYTHING else to do that day.
If you're intending to go to Truckee at all, cab fares run about $60 each way and Uber/Lyft are non-existent in the area. TART can get you there, but be careful as a transfer is required and may be difficult.
The murphy bed was reasonably comfortable and well placed within the house. We had no issues navigating around it, even when wearing our snow clothes.
One last piece of advice; leave the bathroom door open otherwise it'll be a frigid surprise when you need to use the restroom.
