We spent an amazing week end at Villino Iris. Everything was perfect. The house is very lovely with a lot of space and an incredible view of Florence. We met the owner of the villa and his wife who are very nice and gave us a lot of advices. We would gladly book this house again next time we will come to Florence.
We chose Villa I'iris for our trip due to the photos, the reviews and the location. We are a family of 5 with 3 boys (15/10/8) we need a place where we can feel at home and everyone has personal space when needed. I have always wanted to stay in a villa in Firenze. My husband and I were looking at a few villas and decided on Villa l'iris. We were a bit worried about the location as we normally like to stay in a central area. We have been to Firenze many times so we decided that this time we would stay outside the city centre. We rented a car so it was convenient for us to get to the villa. I fell in love with the villa the moment we were going up hill and the main entrance came into sight. The view is amazing! The villa has two storeys but we only used the first floor. There are 3 bedrooms. Spacious living area with tables, chars and sofas. The kitchen is well equipped and opens to the terrace. The first bedroom has one king bed and a single bed. The second bedroom has one king bed and is connected to a bathroom. The third bedroom has 2 single beds. The air con worked very well. It was quite hot during our stay from July 27-August 1st. So having good air cons meant a lot! Though it actually got cold at night and I ended up turning off the air con in the middle of the night as it got too cold. I loved al the paintings in the villa. The books are also nice. All the Furnitures are charming. I loved the chairs, the cabinet in the kitchen and the ceramic heater. Host Tommaso is the BEST host ever!!! He has communicated with us so well and tried to contact us about the arrival time to make sure it would go smoothly. We arrived an hour late as it took so long to get our car from AVIS. But Tommaso aas very kind and understanding. A lovely lady was waiting for us at the villa. She's very nice. She showed us around and answered our questions about how to get around and everything. Tommaso recommended us to go to a restaurant called Zocchi which is 10 minutes drive up hill. The restaurant was a hidden gem! Food was good and the view was amazing. Staffs were very nice. We went there twice. Unfortunately I left my glasses there and found out the day before we had to leave. The restaurant staffs were very helpful when I called them. But we didn't have time to go back and the restaurant opened at 7.00 pm. So I had no choice but to ask a for about from Tommaso. Tommaso was so kind and went out of his way to help me get my glasses. He called the restaurant, went to collect the glasses, posted the glasses to my...
My family and I had such a great time at Villino Iris! We were 5 adults and 2 kids with plenty of confortable space. The house had everything we needed, from kitchenware to washing machines. Tomasso even left us a bottle of wine as a welcome amenity! We had kind of a open plan while travelling throughout Italy, but already had our reservation made with fixed dates for checking-in at Tommaso place. Although there was a small change of plans which led us to get to Firenze 1 day in advance. Hoping that Tommaso could maybe rearrange his and the house's schedule, I sent him a message, which was readily reaplied confirming that it would be possible for us to check-in that very same day! As if it wasn't great enough, he even had someone to meet us in an odd time (due to road issues that we faced)!! Amazing!! The house, the balcony, the view; everything is just even better that shown in the pictures. If you have a few options to choose from where to stay; think no more, and don't be mistaken, choose for Tommaso's place, Villino Iris!
Villino Iris is a truly wonderful house - very spacious (our family of seven fit comfortably, and the kids had plenty of room to play in and around the house), full of character, with a very well equipped kitchen, and best of all, a stunning outlook over the valley toward Florence, and of nearby Fiesole. We ate outside on the patio at breakfast and dinner - it was just magical. The house is in a nice, quiet area about fifteen minutes drive from central Florence. There is a bus-stop directly outside. The driveway is steep and the road the house is located on is narrow and busy, which made access a little challenging. We opted to drive rather than walk to get around. Having a car allowed us to visit other nearby towns, such as Fiesole. Visitors with cars should beware that Florence has a "limited traffic zone" around the centre which non-residents are fined for entering, even inadvertently, so driving into the city needs to be carefully planned. Tommaso was an excellent host and very responsive to our communications. We were met by an agent at the property and given a quick explanation of main features of the house, and then left to our own devices. We had a fantastic stay at Villino Iris and would highly recommend it for those looking for a quiet and picturesque base from which to explore Florence and its surrounds.
