Two double rooms in a cosy and colourful cottage in the centre of a lovely unspoilt Wolds village. Great for walking and cycling - within easy drive of York, North Yorkshire Moors, the coast and Hull.
Welcome to The Yorkshire Wolds. We have big skies and big trees - and I have a little house.
There are two comfortable double rooms in a small cottage which can be let separately @ £45 per room. Also see Little House On The Wolds-2nd (URL HIDDEN), I will think carefully about who and how many can be accommodated at once so you all have a good stay. There is space in the garden for tents.
Comfy beds with duck down duvets and pillows.White linen - and white towels provided. You share my bathroom and have the freedom of the rest of the house. There is a shared sitting room with wood burning stove or you can have sole use of a sitting room with TV. There is a conservatory and an enormous garden with seating, barbecue, hammocks and a bit of a meadow.
I can provide breakfast of the healthy variety - juice, yoghurt, cereals, wholemeal bread, eggs, porridge, honey - your choice - and I can do gluten free. You can use the kitchen to help yourself to a drink - different teas/ coffee/ juice, store food in the fridge and prepare your own food - but, please note, it is a meat free kitchen.
The village is lovely, nestled at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds - at the bottom of Garrowby Hill - celebrated by David Hockney (along with lots of Wolds landscapes - in his exhibition A Bigger Picture) - with a stream and green running the length of the village. There is a pub that does food 30 seconds away and I live next door to the shop.
There is brilliant walking and cycling straight out of the door - either on the flat in the Vale of York or up onto the Wolds. The house is very close to The Wolds, The Chalkland and The Minster Ways - and to the coast to coast cycle route The Way of the Roses. Safe bike storage available. There are two road bikes and a mountain bike if you wish to borrow them. There are tennis courts in the village (I have 2 rackets) and there is horse riding close by.
York is 12 miles away, the East coast 28 miles and it is 24 miles to access the North York Moors at Pickering. Pocklington, a small market town with a good restaurant, 2/3 coffee shops, range of independent shops and an arts centre/cinema is just 5 miles away.
You have access to pretty much everything. All shared.
I will be around and about! There is as much inter-action as feels welcome and natural on both sides.
I like to walk, to cycle and to speak Spanish. I visit Spain often, have travelled a lot in Latin America and intend travelling there some more. I was OK at salsa but have gone off the boil: I have attempted tango but lost the determination! I swim and like messing about in turquoise water. I do the garden, read, go to the movies, visit art galleries, take photos, like adventures and have opinions on most things - sometimes informed, most often intuitive.
