A birdwatchers paradise, you will also see wallabies and many other rainforest wildlife. We are located right on the national park in a peaceful, quiet location, but still 20 minutes from Kuranda and 45 minutes from Cairns airport.
Escape the crowds and enjoy a retreat to the rainforest. Cedar Park is isolated but not far. We are a place to step back from the push of technology. While we do have free high speed wifi and a land line telephone available for use, that is the limit of communications. There is no mobile phone reception, so you can turn it off (or connect to wifi if you must). Rooms and public areas have no television. You will not see or hear it here. Instead you listen to the sounds of nature, from bird life during the day to frogs, cicadas and curlews in the evening. Each large suite has a private verandah overlooking wilderness.
Self catering facilities allow you to prepare your own meals. There is an under cover BBQ area in the rainforest where you can dine among the birds and wallabies. If you do not bring your own supplies we offer a range of BBQ packs with everything you need. We even offer vegetarian and gluten free options. Our chef prepares a grand buffet which is open to the public most Friday nights and you may join that if you wish, please book in advance. She also prepares some home-made meals which are available for purchase and can be reheated in our self catering dining area. You may help yourself to our continental breakfast buffet from early morning to 10am when it closes at check out time.
We are originally from the USA, but migrated to Australia 15 years ago. We have five children born between 2001 and 2014 who will welcome you. We are happy to give advice on what to do in the area as well as chat in general.
You may come join us to feed the wallabies, birds and fish at the end of the day.
Rooms include continental breakfast, free wifi, welcome snacks, port wine, fresh coffee & tea.
Smoking areas are outside the building. Plenty of self service BBQs. We also provide reheatable homemade meals from our chef. Most Fridays there is a buffet dinner open to the public. You may swim in the creek/national park. We have ping pong and darts, games and puzzles.
