This peaceful retreat nestled amongst the trees offers the best of all worlds - breath-taking views of the Ojai Valley through walls of glass, privacy and seclusion, and a five minute drive to vibrant downtown Ojai. We are properly licensed for short term rentals (no booking concerns!) so Ventura County requires us to collect 9% bed tax (8% TOT and 1% Ojai Tourism Improvement tax) on top of rental fees.
Welcome to The Ojai View House! We hope you find it's as special as we do. From the gorgeous, one-in-a-million views of the valley to the feeling of calm that washes over you in the quiet hillside location, this retreat was built to rest your mind and restore your soul.
This charming 60s ranch home (no stairs!) contains spacious rooms and a wonderfully easy layout with almost 2000 square feet of house. Watch the gorgeous sunrise and sunsets from the two outdoor patios lining the house (and keep an eye out for the local deer that like to stop by the yard!). Or, if you feel like staying in, watch the sunsets just as easily from the large living room or sunroom/office. For those of you who want to get cozy, put a vintage LP (Dean Martin? Opera? John Denver?) on the available record player in the living room or pop a movie into the DVD player and relax. There's even an organ in the living room for those who are feeling musically inspired. For the readers in the group, the bookcase in the sunroom/office is well stocked full of books of all kinds, from fun pulp novels to political discourses on historical world leaders. The Internet connection is the strongest that Time Warner offers in the area at 300 mgb.
Each of the spacious bedrooms has a wonderfully calm atmosphere conducive to getting some real rest. The master bedroom has a king bed with a sliding door directly to the outdoor patio. The two guest bedrooms each have queen beds and their own overhead fans to produce a light, cool breeze should you want it.
For your meals, enjoy a luxurious breakfast in the fun breakfast area off the kitchen or, if you choose, host a formal dinner in the separate dining room. Views continue to amaze from both eating areas.
The Ojai View House is ideal for friends and families vacationing together. While we welcome children with open arms, we would just like to note that the property is located on the side of a hill that has a rather steep drop off toward the road (hence the incredible views!). Children should be supervised at all times.
The Ojai View House is truly a one-of-a-kind space that will help create many wonderful memories. We hope you keep coming back and make it a tradition.
Note: There is a 6 guest max although we may make exceptions in certain circumstances and then will ask for an extra fee per person per night. Please inquire if your party exceeds the max number.
You will have access to the full house and grounds except for a small owner's storage area off to the side.
We have a property manager who's available for you locally in Ojai who lives 5 minutes from the property. Sarah's contact information is available in the on site Guest Book.
SPECIAL NOTE: The Ojai View House is located outside Ojai city limits and therefore not affected by the City of Ojai ban on short term rentals. You can book with confidence knowing that we collect and remit the 8% transient occupancy tax (TOT) and the 1% Ojai Tourism Improvement District Tax (OTID) to the County of Ventura.
Guests must pay the Uniform Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) or hotel bed tax at the rate of 8% for the County of Ventura and an additional 1% for the Ojai Tourism Improvement District based on the room rate (not on Airbnb fees). This tax is required of guests of all hotels and short term rental properties. You will receive a separate email through the Airbnb Resolutions page requesting the tax amount, which will be rounded up to the nearest dollar (Airbnb only processes full dollar amounts). Upon confirmation of your reservation, we can provide you with the exact amount of the tax or you may calculate it at 9%.
It's important that we emphasize these basic House Rules as we want to make sure we respect our neighborhood, our neighbors and the land around the house.
-No pets (owner has and possibly other guests may have allergies).
-No smoking on the premises.
-No fires inside or outside.
-No candles or incense.
-No loud noise or partying as this is a residential neighborhood. Quiet time after 10:00 pm.
-Do not feed the wild animals or leave food or garbage outside.
-The house is located in a rural area and surrounded on all sides by untamed land. This means there are insects and wild animals on the constant search for food. DO NOT leave food out inside the house either as unwanted critters will find their way in. Ants especially!
-Please be aware of the California water shortage and be minimalists.
-House on septic system – Nothing in toilets other than paper.
-When using dishwasher, please only wash items marked as 'dishwasher safe'. Hand wash collectible china please.
-Please use TLC when using the organ and record player and other electronic gadgets.

-Upon check-out, clean BBQ grill and tools if used. Advise if propane tank is low.
-Keep windows and doors closed as much as possible to prevent insects entering.
-Report any issues with house immediately to property manager.
