Enjoy a relaxed stay at our Patryshuis on a working farm in rural Western Cape. Our tranquil location offers a convenient overnight rest-stop between Cape Town and the Addo Elephant Park near Port Elizabeth, or a base to explore the Garden Route.
The Patryshuis (Francolin House) is situated on a working farm near the village of Great Brak River, centrally located between Mossel Bay and George. We offer a relaxed stay on the Garden Route with beautiful views of the Wolwedans lake, the neighbouring avocado farm and the Outeniqua Mountains.
The cottage is ideally suited for 2 guests, but a sleeper couch in the lounge offers space an additional 2 guests in a pinch.
It has a shaded porch and a large deck wraps around the east side of the house.
A fully equipped kitchenette and indoor fireplace offers several ways of cooking a scrumptious meal. A portable outdoor 'braai' (BBQ) is available on request. Firewood and fire lighters are included in the the price.
Guests are welcome to arrive at any time after 2PM: the cottage shall be unlocked and ready.
Explore the surrounding farm land. If bad weather keeps you inside, sip a glass of red wine beside the indoor fireplace.
I usually meet at least once with guests during their stay to welcome them and enquire about any special needs.
Helmeted Guineafowl, Red Billed Francolin and Bushbuck are regular visitors, especially early in the morning. Please do not feed or harm these animals.
Check-out at 11:00.
No open fires outside the designated fireplaces please.
You are welcome to explore the farm on bicycle or foot, but please keep the gates closed.
