Enjoy the Best of Margaretville & the Catskills in this large gorgeous Farmhouse. Monthly rentals only during ski season. Jan-March 2017. SKI BELLEAYRE! Great for enjoying the great outdoors, skiing, hiking, barbecuing, swimming, etc. Belleayre & Plattekill Mountains, gardens, barn, E. Branch of Delaware River!
The very BEST farm house in Margaretville! SKI BELLEAYRE! The original home was built circa 1850 and tastefully expanded over the generations to it's current 3500 sq ft of contemporary country charm. With 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, a beautiful screened porch and bluestone patio, 1800 sq foot barn, 2 car garage, on 5.5 acres bordering NYC land and the E. Branch of the Delaware River, the property is completely private yet only 2 miles from the Village center!
The upper Master Bedroom has a wonderful King bed. It's en-suite bath has a clawfoot tub with hand spray shower and there are skylights throughout. Also upstairs is a queen size bedroom, a smaller bedroom outfitted with bunk beds as well as a shared hall bath with tile shower. The upstairs hall also has an office nook built in for writing, reading, or surfing the web. The lower master suite has a queen bed, writing desk and sitting area as well as a wood-burning stove and an en-suite bath with claw-foot tub shower.
Each bed throughout the house features quality comforters and many pillows. Each room can accommodate up to 2 adults (although the bunk room may be better suited for kids) and there is a pull out chair that converts into a twin bed for an extra guest in the upstairs queen bedroom.
There is a great chef's kitchen with cooktop stove, microwave, dishwaher, marble island and tons of pantry space. The living room has a cute breakfast corner looking out onto the screened porch. The dining table can seat 10 people and looks out over the blue-stone patio, the huge lawn and gardens. Another downstairs office nook is centrally located between the living and dining rooms. There is Wi-fi internet throughout the house and a TV with DVD player in the living room. We do not have cable and a telephone land line is currently being installed. (Note on the TV; it's also really easy to hook a laptop to the tv using the hdmi port for expanding your entertainment options.)
It will be our pleasure to share local information, tips and maps with you.
We are located 5 minutes from the Pakatakan Farmer's Market - open Saturday mornings for fabulous local fare and products. Susan's Pleasant Pheasant Farm offers canoe, kayak and bike rentals. The famous Bun n Cone restaurant as well as Summerfields, the Inn Between, The T-Bar, etc., are all close by. Andes, Roxbury, Plattekill and Belleayre Mountain are a 12 minute drive away. Delhi is 22 minutes.
Check out the photos to see for yourself what a wonderful stay you can have in the heart of the Catskill Mountains!
Please note, the house you are staying in is our home-away-from-home. You may find a few of our belongings in the house, although not many -- all drawers and closets are cleared out for guests. Additionally, the house is an antique and worn in some spots so it will not be pristine like a new hotel would be. The antique tubs have age stains on their enamel, etc. If you want a "new" experience, this is not the house for you. On the other hand, we clean the house with care before each guest arrives and we believe you will be pleased with the results! Our 2 cats sometimes stay in the house during the summer so please ask about pets if you have questions. No cats during the winter.

We are available anytime by phone. If you will be arriving late at night, please let us know so we keep our ringers on in case you need us.
SKI BELLEAYRE! Margaretville is a great town. We have a file holder with local information and maps on the bookshelf by the backdoor. The Inn Between on Rt 28, and Summerfields on Main Street are nice places to have dinner. The Flour Patch behind the Coldwell Banker bldg. is great for breakfast and lunch. The Freshtown grocery store is fantastic. There is also an amazing and big farmer’s market up Rt 30 toward Roxbury on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. Also two great farm stands on Rt 30.
There is kayaking and canoeing and bike rentals at Susan's Pleasant Pheasant Farm in Halcottsville 7 miles away. Also bike rentals and great shopping at Roxbury General in Roxbury - 10 miles away. Andes is 10 miles away and is a great little shopping town. They also have a great restaurant Two Old Tarts. Pine Hill Lake has a state park with a great family friendly lake with a sandy beach. Pine Hill also has a wonderful restaurant called Zephyr - one of the finer restaurants around.
Phonecia has tubing on the Esopus. And the Phonecia Diner is awesome.
The other really outstanding restaurant is 20 minutes away in Big Indian - Peekamoose.
There is awesome hiking all around - just check a hiking website and search Margaretville.
There is an antique cooperative on the way to Delhi on Rt 28 in Bovina. And another one in Delhi with multiple dealers. Quarter Moon Cafe in Delhi is a good place to eat. There is also a great multi dealer shop off 28 in Margaretville called McIntosh Auction. And check the local paper - The Catskill Mountain News for other great local auctions and other activities.
It also has a great art gallery - The Longyear Gallery. The kitchen store is a must stop. As are the kids clothing shop and the amazing fiber arts/knitting shop Mountains Yarns. Also, be sure to check out the Margaretville Auxiliary Hospital Thrift Store. There is another good thrift store located at the back of the library in Roxbury and also one with higher end clothes and prices in the Pine Hill Community Center. And the Cheese Barrell has great gourmet food choices in Margaretville.
Please treat our home as you would your own. No smoking inside the house. Pets on approval. Please do not enter the barn or studio building as there are not prepared for guests. Please read the House Manual before reserving for more details.
