Lush tropical landscape, old FL "mid century modern"; lg. Koi pond w/ waterfalls, palms, lg. FL oaks; room has double French doors opening to own sm. patio/ pond/ waterfall; 15 min walk to Metro rail & town center w/ many restaurants/cafes, shops & a Whole Foods Market. A Metro rail line goes straight to/ from Airport. 30 mins to South beach; Access to Everglades & Keys South is via freeway that is 5 mins away.
NO SMOKING, NO drugs ( recreational marijuana not legal in FL yet, I have a nursing license I could lose & my next door neighbor is an MD at the hospital where I work) :). nor HEAVY drinking please- though note that a couple glasses of wine, beers, Mojitos or Capirinas totally fine; if one really must smoke, please take a walk on the street, off property, & dispose of butts responsibly & considerately i.e. not onto the street or neighbors yard. There is a butt disposal cup on front gate support pole.
Quiet after 11PM if anyone needs to awaken early for flights or work- please check w/ everyone that is in house at the time if you know you will be up late doing something that could disrupt someone sleeping. & please let others know if you have an early flight. I'm basically a night owl but have to awaken at 5:30AM the 3 random days a week that I work 12 hr shifts, which may include some Sats. I consequently tend to sleep late on days off.
ONLY LIGHT COOKING- ie no frying bacon or chicken, or major cooking with oil. I am basically vegetarian though occ. eat organic grassfed meat & wild caught fish. So mostly steam veggies or "steam fry" fish or eggs i.e. with a coin sized amount of oil & keep pan covered- expect same from any other cooks. My kitchen is not designed for more than that ie. NO HOT OIL spattering all over the place.
SORRY TO BE SO PARTICULAR. It's just that the lovely, funky custom tile counter created by my landlord is a real pain to keep clean which is a must as insects in this ground level jungle can become a problem fast secondary to oil spatter.
One final unusual issue is that strong perfumes or colognes ( & Axe deodorant) need to be put on after leaving house. I am extremely sensitive to the strong fumes of "freshly put on".- "end of the day linger" I can usually handle.
No overnight guests other than those registered or approved personally by me.
Thanks in advance.
I work per diem as a nurse so have a varied & generally flexible work schedule. I maintain an Acupuncture license & do this very part-time more as a hobby right now. Love to travel & share travel stories. I've done mostly long term third world travel- worked in refugee camps in Thailand, Sudan & Philippines. Also went to Haiti twice after earthquake & to Nepal with Acupuncturists w/o Borders the year before the big earthquake there. Now, mostly spend free time with Environmental issues thru Sierra Club & enjoying Nature in my yard, around Miami kayaking, snorkeling/scuba in the Keys & the many parks & gardens. I also have a passion for Salsa/Latin dance & recently Swing/Boogie woogie.
My availability as "tour guide" will vary depending on work schedule. I basically love it but when I DO work its 12 hr shifts. 3 days in a row so-- work, eat, sleep. Hope to catch you at least some of your stay on days off. -- always available via text on work days & can usually respond at lunch break around 2PM.
