I have never left a negative review about any host in my stays as a guest through Airbnb in several cities around the world over many years, but I feel an obligation to share with other potential guests the terrible experience I had with this host Cristihan.
First of all, the amenities that were listed for the property when I rented it were inaccurate. This apartment does not have air conditioning and there was no free parking on premises, as was claimed. I found the latter out when I came late at night to park a car in the building, only to be told the apartment has no parking space there, so I had to leave the car parked on the street. When I complained about this, Cristihan showed great dishonesty by changing the description of the property after the fact, and then pretending the description had always said that "free parking is on the street" and that "air conditioning is [a] fan". Fortunately, I already had screenshots of the original listing and its description, and Airbnb was able to corroborate that Cristihan had made the changes after I had pointed out the inaccuracies in his listing.
The refrigerator in the apartment could cause guests problems, as it is of very bad quality. The fridge plastic door shelves are extremely flimsy and tend to come off, and on one occasion just by opening the fridge one of the door shelves did come off, fell to the floor with a couple of cartons of milk we had placed there, and broke. Even though we immediately informed Cristihan about what had happened, he made a big fuss about it, and after we had left the apartment he then accused us of also breaking a plastic shelf in the freezer, which we had never even used, and probably had broken during a previous stay. He also wanted to charge us for a small scuff in the wall we had supposedly made during our stay, and offered to send us pictures to show it, but he never actually did.
The worst part came when we requested him to cancel a second rental we had previously programmed in the same apartment for a stay some time later, as we no longer wanted to stay in an apartment that was not what we thought we were renting, and was hosted by someone who had behaved in such a dishonest way. Since Cristihan refused to cancel that stay, we had to request help from Airbnb, explaining all that had happened. Airbnb was able to cancel the second stay after they verified Cristihan had made after-the-fact changes in his listing in order to hide the misrepresentations in his apartment's description, and that he had also threatened us through the Airbnb messaging system with having "his friends in the Peruvian national police" take us away.
In sum, a real nightmare I wouldn't wish any other Airbnb guest to ever experience.
