Compact, modern g/floor room + b'fast. King bed. Shower room - sole use of guests. We sleep upstairs. Three other room/s available at very busy times. These are upstairs with shared bathroom. Two dogs live here. V close to transport, by train or bus, into city centre + Taff Trail, Cardiff Uni, Met, Uni S Wales by train or bike. In-house bike store.
The ground floor bedroom is very small, but very clean and modern with wi-fi. It has a quality king-size bed with memory foam mattress, small single wardrobe + chest of drawers + chair. Tea/coffee, water and biscuits are in your room and your private bathroom is immediately adjacent, but not en-suite. We have 2 lively dogs who are kept out of your way, especially during the night-time. We sleep upstairs so this room is relatively private as it is off the main hallway with its own little hallway. The upstairs double bedroom with pull-out single chair-bed is bigger, but it shares the adjacent bathroom with my husband and me. There is a small box room with a single bed if needed at very busy times.
You will be offered continental breakfast in our living room. You are welcome to sit in our pretty rear garden if the weather is good or to watch TV with us if you're not going out. Our kitchen is not available to you because of the dogs, but we provide a kettle, bottled water, tea, coffee, biscuits in your room.
We are a friendly, semi-retired, couple who are in and out most days. We are more than happy to help you with information about our native Cardiff and the surrounding area. We offer bed and breakfast ONLY (no access to our kitchen) and hope you'd be out most of the day. However we would be happy for you to spend quiet time in your room or in the garden during the day. We can speak Welsh fluently and a little Spanish and French.
Our house is in Whitchurch, 3.5 miles from the city centre. Llandaf train station is only a 5 minute walk from us and frequent buses into the city stop 5 minutes away too. We are a 15 minute walk from the centre of Whitchurch village with all its great pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. Only a 5 minute walk from Llandaf North coffee shops and Indian Restaurant. You can cycle or walk on the Taff Trail which is just at the end of our road and from there it's easy to reach the city centre on foot (75 minutes) or by bike without ever going on a road. The train from Rhoose (Cardiff Wales Airport station) comes directly to our local station, Llandaf. there is a train directly to Barry Island too, famous for Gavin and Stacey!
No smoking in the house or rear garden, but OK in front garden. No pets please - as we have two dogs here. We do not allow access to our kitchen because of the dogs. We prefer short stays of 1-3 nights. We are a fairly quiet, but very friendly couple. We would expect to be able to sleep after 11 p.m. You may come in at any time you like and make a cuppa in your room, but please don't be noisy and/or drunk when you do so. Your room has wi-fi, but doesn't have a TV. You are welcome to watch TV with us if you wish and to use our sitting room when we're not in. Please respect that this is our home, NOT an anonymous hotel room.
I'm widely travelled myself and still enjoy exploring new places. Along with that goes the enjoyment of meeting new people! My husband, John, and I look forward to meeting you soon! John and I speak Welsh fluently. I graduated in Welsh and I still work part-time teaching adults. I can speak a little French and Spanish, but I'm not fluent by any means. John earns beer money by walking dogs every weekday along with our own two border collies. We travel a lot: this year Italy, California including Yosemite, Monterey, San Diego and off to Crete before Christmas. I've travelled extensively in Asia, including Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Spent quite some time in Australia too when I was young.
