Our lake is about 96 feet deep and fishing includes bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass, northern pike, rock bass, smallmouth bass, sunfish and walleye. We have caught some of these, but have only seen some, like walleye and pike, caught by neighbors. Our lake covers about 644 square acres. There are designated catch and release areas on the Huron River nearby.
We are near great hiking and biking, such as Peach Mountain, Pinckney State Recreation Area, Waterloo State Recreation Area, Lakelands Trail, B2B Trail and Hudson Mills Metropark. A good walk or bike around the lake is about eight miles. We will provide our maps of our favorite mountain, road and gravel road rides and hikes. Bicycles can be rented in Dexter. In winter there are plenty of marked and unmarked trails for hiking, cross country skiing and snow shoeing.
We are 20 minutes from the Big House and we are good for football weekends. Fall football weekends are not only good for Michigan football, but Fall is a great time to use our four kayaks and canoe. The summer residents are mainly gone and there is very little boat traffic.
We are a ten minute drive to Hell, Michigan (not great restaurants, but plenty of kitch - ask for John Colone - he's the "mayor" of Hell and he'll gladly let you re-new your wedding vows in the Hell Chapel).
Local farmers are nearby with seasonal daily fresh picked corn, vegetables, eggs and fruit. Zingerman's has a farm stand about a 5 minute walk up Dexter-Pinckney Road. It is a ten minute drive to pick your own blueberries (Dexter Berry Farm) and raspberries (Berry Hill Farms), depending on the season. The excellent and comprehensive Ann Arbor Farmers Market is every Wednesday and Saturday. Other local Farmers Markets include Dexter (Sat.), Pinckney (Sat.) and Howell (Sun.).
There are two golf courses within a ten minute drive: Whispering Pines Golf Club and Hudson Mills Metropark and many others within a half hour drive.
There are a lot of antique sellers nearby, including the Ann Arbor Antiques Market at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds.
We will supply very detailed lists of local restaurants, farmers markets, recreational stuff to do and a calender of local events like county and town fairs, festivals and museums.
We have several board games: Scrabble, Battleship, Risk, Chinese Checkers, Apples To Apples, Othello, Backgammon, Chess and Yahtzee.
No smoking. No dogs.
Guests have access to our four kayaks and paddles, rowboat and oars, sunfish sailboat, many life jackets in many sizes and 110 feet of dock, as well as BBQ and the whole house.
$150.00 Cleaning Fee Required. Release required for use of watercraft.
We love the lake house. Right out our door we can swim, kayak, canoe, paddle boat (feet only), sail, boat, walk and bike, or just relax and read a book or nap. By boat we can easily get to many other lakes, rivers, streams and wetlands. We have nearby farm stands with fresh daily fresh corn, veges and fruit. In a short drive we can hike up natural unpaved or paved Peach Mountain trails, walk or bike our local Metropark (Dexter Mills, paved path), mountain bike, road bike or gravel road or mountain bike, walk or hike in Pinckney State or Waterloo Recreational Areas or the Lakelands Trail (hardpack). Sometimes we take the 20 minute drive to Ann Arbor for its great restaurants and many City and University of Michigan events.
