Architect-designed 400 sq ft studio guest house in the heart of Venice - a jungle retreat with it's own large private deck.
This secluded guest house is separated from the 1933 main residence beach cottage by a lush backyard. It is tastefully decorated with vintage items from local shops. Hardwood floors, full-tiled bath with tub/shower, complete kitchen, dishes, utensils and all appliances, Wifi, TV, DVD, and Roku for Netflix. Full size bed and couch folds out into a double. Ideally located, just one block from Abbot Kinney - the "coolest street in the U.S." (GQ Magazine, 2012) with it's incredible collection of acclaimed restaurants and shops. Also 1 block to the Venice Canals and 3 quick blocks to the world famous Venice Beach and boardwalk. Beach towels, boogie boards and surfboards, and even a couple of old but functional beach cruiser bikes (one is tall) are available. Bus stop close by with many destinations available including Santa Monica, UCLA, LAX airport, Hollywood and Downtown L.A. Ideal for animals lovers too as our friendly pets - two dogs and a cat, will be paying you friendly visits!
Private deck overlooking lush shared back yard.
Two "As Is" Beach cruiser bikes for $10 each.
Two beach towels, mats, boogie boards.
Greet on arrival. Might see each other if we're in the back yard when guests go in or out, or if we need to access the shed in the back of the yard. On weekdays we're usually not home.
Please note that I do ask guests to leave it as clean as they found it, except of course for washing the linens.
We have medium size older dog Myrtle, one Chihuahua (Crouton), and a cat. Almost all of our guests enjoy our pets. We treat them regularly for fleas and bath them weekly (pets not the guests that is:-) Only two out of over 250 guests have complained of flea bites. In both of those cases, neither guests just before or after experienced any issue and I have never encountered a problem in our house nor the guest house. However, I would advise you to NOT rent our place if you are not an animal lover or have pet allergies! (Cat allergy people do fine if they don't let the cat in.)
Leave it as clean as you found it except for washing linens.
Smoking on deck only.
Close the yard gates quietly when entering the property.
Only TP (no feminine products) in the toilet.
Use coasters on the wood furniture.
I'm a North Carolina native who has lived in Southern California for over 20 years working in the Aerospace industry. My family (a 13 year old son, Harlan, and his father, Ron) and I love the outdoors and frequently hike the local mountains and ride bicycles up and down the beach. Ron is a graphic designer and musician (guitar) and Harlan is a budding artist, musician, skateboarder, and most recently, a surfer. In contrast to the southern California lifestyle, I also have a family farm in North Carolina that we visit several times a year.
