These are my favorite rooms in the house! Two-room suites, with a queen bed and a private living area (pull-out couch) and bathroom. They're perfect for singles/couples looking for a bit more privacy and space.
Why book your stay at the Walker Center?
We offer a truly unique house with a long history of hospitality, going back nearly 150 years! The inn at Walker Center offers comfortable accommodations within a picturesque setting, set upon 2.2 acres in the historic neighborhood of Auburndale. Peruse art and artifacts from around the world. Enjoy our sprawling backyard, or our large open kitchen where coffee and tea are served 24/7. Breathe deep as you unwind and unplug (even though we still have free WiFi !) Above all, we have the friendliest staff you'll find anywhere. These are just a few of the reasons why our guests come back to Walker again and again, once they discover us.
Guests at the Bed and Breakfast have access to our dining room throughout their stay, as well as limited access to our living room (so long as it is not being used by a conference or retreat). The backyard behind the houses on Hancock St is typically open to use for guests, weather permitting.
We have a front office staff available to help throughout the day, from 9am to 9pm (10-7 on Sundays). In addition, we have staff who live on the campus and can be reached via an emergency phone number during off-duty hours.
Check-in is from 2pm to 9pm. Check out is from 9am to 11am. If you need to check out prior to 9am, please let our staff know in advance. If you arrive after 9pm to check-in, please let us know in advance and have our emergency phone number on hand.
Breakfast is served daily in the dining room from 7:30am to 9am and accommodates persons with all manner of dietary restrictions, including gluten-free and vegetarian/vegan. Be sure to let our staff know via email in advance if you have particular dietary restrictions and we will do our very best to make sure you have a tasty and nutritious breakfast!
Housekeeping only occurs after you complete your stay at Walker - this helps us reduce our carbon footprint and keep prices low. But extra linens and towels are available upon request.
We do have an elevator and ramp access.
The bed and breakfast is part of a wider Walker Center community that includes student residents in our other campus homes, and conferences and retreats that stay in additional houses as well as rent out portions of the main house for meetings. We are a non-profit organization that seeks to support and resource transformative dialogue across faith traditions. Your stay at Walker Center helps contribute to our overall mission of promoting peace and justice for all across the world!
Non-service pets and smoking are both strictly prohibited for guests at the Center.
We cannot completely guarantee that we have availability for the room-type you are booking, because Airbnb does not sync to our booking engine. We try to only make rooms available on Airbnb when we have multiple rooms of one type available, but somethings we might still ask you to switch to a different kind of room (for instance, from a twin-only room to a room with a queen bed with twins). Let us know if you have specific bedding needs. FYI, we do also have cots.
As the bed and breakfast (the second and part of the third floor of Walker Home) often shares the property with groups conducting conferences or retreats, particularly on the weekends, we ask that both groups and guests be mindful and respectful of one another. There's room for everyone here, literally and figuratively!
