An amazing location near the High Line, Chelsea Market, Meatpacking restaurants and nightlife, and West Village or Union Square shopping.

Filled with sunlight, the top-floor apartment faces south and overlooks a quiet tree lined courtyard. Quiet- looking out on quiet courtyard--- great bed--- Mel is really on top of things--- would love to stay again!

This apartment is fabulous - amazing central location, so close to 3 different subway lines, and easy to get anywhere in town. The decor is gorgeous, and the place is super spacious for NYC. Mel is a breeze to communicate with and very helpful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Awesome. Thanks Mel!

I had a peaceful, quiet, and very comfortable stay at Mel's apartment. From the high quality king size bed, to the large courtyard facing windows, to the living room couch, to the functional and well considered kitchen, the apartment was just perfect and had everything I needed. Mel's style is creative and I appreciated the old world feeling. Also, it was really clean! Mel's communication was solid and checking in and out was a breeze. I'd recommend Mel's apartment to anyone who wants to be close to (and in the heart of) everything in the city, but then at the end of the day, decompress and relax in her home sanctuary. Many thanks Mel!!

Beautiful apartment, well decorated. Extremely convenient location. Comfortable bed. Definitely recommended. Things to be aware of: a dog lives here when the owner is in, so if you have a dog allergy take note. There was also a strong dog food odor. There are thin curtains but no shades or blinds on the bedroom windows so bring an eye mask if you want to sleep past dawn.

Mel was quick to respond and though she was traveling also we found it very easy to communicate and get organized. The apartment is everything in the listing and more ... My husband and I were there for four nights and were so at home in Mel's spacious sunny place. We didn't expect it to be as roomy as it was given normal NYC places - in fact the bedroom has a king bed plus dressers and plenty of floor space. In the cozy living room we felt happy having a friend over for drinks and the three of us could have had more people join. True to NYC fashion the kitchen is tiny but functional and new. Just fine for breakfasts and snacks - if you wanted to cook a whole meal you could but you'd want to plan it to optimize in the space. Location: stellar! It is truly about 50 steps to the subway 1-2-3 line and then just a bit further to A-C-E lines. We wandered Chelsea, the village and the lower east side and took the subway further afield and rarely had to wait because there were so many options. Plenty of grocers and excellent restaurants within 3-5 blocks. We hope to be back and have also shared Mel's listing with former NYC friends who visit and they hope to stay there as well!

Mel was friendly and communicative. Apartment was pretty, clean, quiet, and the location was perfect. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks!

Nothing special was provided. We stayed in this apartment for 8 nights. The apartment was located on a very busy street, but because it was located on the back of the building, it was very quiet, and we weren’t bothered by any street noise. It was spacious and bright. The bed was terrific and we managed to sleep well every night. Getting around New York was very convenient because there were subways at each end of the street. The pictures on the site were, generally, accurate. Part of the reason we like to stay in an apartment rental in NYC is to have the ability to eat in for some of our meals. A review on this apartment indicated a “well-equipped kitchen”. The kitchen, however, was lacking in many of the basics. While there was an ample supply of dishes and silverware, there was nothing to cook with. There were two old pots and a larger, burnt pot that weren’t usable. We did find a small sauce pan some casserole dishes. We certainly expected to find a coffeemaker and a toaster, but these were none. There was an electric teapot that we utilized for instant coffee and tea. We used the oven broiler to make toast. There was no cable television other than an Apple TV hook-up enabling one to source snippets of news. We had to call the owner to figure out how to operate the television. Then, the television crashed. We called the owner, again, but she never got back to us. After several days, we searched the internet and were able to re-sync the Apple TV to the television. It crashed once more before it finally stabilized. Though the rooms are what you see on the site, they are filled with personal clutter. There were some hangers to hang our clothes, but no drawer space to put other clothing. We resorted to using the top of a dresser drawer and a night stand to stack some clothes and lived out of our suitcases for anything else we needed. The apartment, in general, needs an intensive cleaning, organizing, and removal of personal stuff if it is to continue to be rented. It needs an intensive cleaning and organizing. Basics, such as a sponge for the kitchen, paper towels, and kleenex were not provided. There was toilet paper. It appears that the toilet is leaking as we noted water around the floor of the seal. Also, the kitchen sink is close to clogging as it drains very slowly. The refrigerator really needs cleaning. It certainly would have helped to have had an apartment manual to familiarize ourselves with food shopping and eating areas. Also, general apartment information such as how to operate the television, where to put garbage, what to do with keys, upon leaving, etc. All in all, the apartment served our basic needs and we enjoyed our stay in New York.
There is a cleaning crew that comes in before each airbnb guest (which I supervise), so I can guarantee that the apartment was certainly in good clean condition before Dan and his wife stayed here. The refrigerator is 90% empty, but does have some basics that I have kept for guest use. This was Dan's first time using airbnb (I think he said his son or daughter made the reservation for them), so they did not seem familiar with the online system, including how to find the house instructions, which cover all the questions they had including how to operate an apple TV, where the garbage chute is, keys etc. While I have had many older guests stay at the apartment with no issue, it seems, Dan's lack of familiarity with the internet and more modern systems was to his detriment during this stay. The "basics" are in the kitchen, below the sink (again in the house rules on the airbnb site). Perhaps because they are unfamiliar with airbnb they also expected to be staying in a hotel, not someone's home, so of course there are personal belongings in the apartment. That being said, one closet is completely cleared of any items in the bedroom and I do provide hangers in this space. Any guest that have stayed have found this to be enough space to accommodate their belongings.
