Yann's apartment in a chateau is a fantastic place to stay if you're travelling down through France and need an overnight stay just off the Autoroute. We found the apartment to be very clean, very spacious and with a beautiful view from the windows over the parkland and across the horse racing training track. Watching the horses being exercised while eating breakfast was a delightful sight!
A huge bonus for us was that you could park off-road, in complete security, in the private car park. We were travelling with lots of luggage so it was perfect for us to be able to leave most of it in the car and not have to unload.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and huge, with plenty of space to cook, eat and chill out. The huge bed was very comfortable and you could block out the light with the dark curtains. Being in the middle of a forest park it is dead silent, so we had a lovely, restful sleep (though we could hear the chateau clock chiming and people walking around in the apartment above in the morning). Most of the drawers and cupboards were empty, so there is plenty of space to store your stuff. The bathroom is spacious and the shower pressure good and strong.
There is a good sized kitchen with plenty of equipment to make meals, through, as we have come to expect in France, there is no kettle or toaster (we improvised with a small saucepan and the oven grill). We ate in as we were really tired from our long drive, but there are good restaurants 10 minutes drive away and a huge supermarket just 5 minutes drive down the road (not really walkable).
There is a large dining table, sofa, TV & DVD (which took a bit of working out how to operate them). Note that there is no WIFI! This is something we've come to expect as normal in AirBnBs, so didn't think to check before we booked. However, as were were only staying one night it didn't really bother us that much. If we were staying longer it would have been a deal breaker! The phone/data connection isn't very fast either, though it's better if you go outside.
We only stayed one night as a stopover on our drive back to the UK so we didn't get to see the local sights. Yann had left leaflets with info about the local area and it looked well worth visiting.
We'd definitely stay in Yann's apartment again if we are driving back through France again, though he'd need to install WIFI to encourage us to stay longer! I don't think you'll find a nicer and more convenient place to stay in this location. Thank you Yann!
