The perfect getaway. Come stay on a horse farm in the heart of Keswick. Great location for winery visits, & close to Monticello, Ash Lawn, and Montpelier. Only 1/2 mile from Keswick Hall. Charming detached stone guest house built in 1930 (but looks much older). Private sitting room & patio. Enjoy the view as you sip wine on the patio by the firepit!
We are just a 10 min. drive from downtown Charlottesville and all of its historic attractions and fabulous restaurants! + within Über range!
A totally unique, sweet, apartment. Downstairs sitting room with glass French doors opening onto a patio with an antique iron table with four chairs and phenomenal mountain views. There is a fire pit by the patio which guests greatly enjoy! A perfect place to sit and enjoy a glass of local wine and take in the view!
The sitting room offers a large, comfortable sofa, side table with reading lamp, extra seating, beautiful antique appointments. A Keurig coffee maker, with a large selection of coffee and tea, allows you to wake up and enjoy a peaceful morning at your leisure.
Keep in mind that although this is a separate stand-alone guest cottage, there is no kitchen. Guests are more than welcome to use a shelf in my refrigerator which is just steps from the guesthouse door, and also welcome to use the grill on the patio of the main house.
Upstairs there are two small bedrooms. One queen Ralph Lauren rattan bed, one antique 4 poster, carved double bed. Down pillows and duvets. Yves Delorme sheets. High quality Restoration Hardware towels. Iron, hairdryer, pack-n-play, closet space.
There is a small bathroom between the two bedrooms (it does not open directly to either bedroom, but to the upstairs landing). The bathroom has a pedestal sink, toilet, and an old porcelain tub/shower. It is well appointed, but small. It has lovely French windows which look out at the mountains. There is a nice hairdryer, and toiletries in a basket on a small table in front of the window.
If you are visiting in the summer months, there is no air conditioning, but there are ceiling fans in every room, as well as tower fans in each bedroom. There are screens on all of the windows so you can enjoy sleeping with the windows open!
If you are visiting in the cooler months of the year, there is plenty of heat in each room, so you will be very cozy!
Plenty of brochures and information are provided on Charlottesville and the surrounding area. And I love to give restaurant and winery advice to help guests plan their stay!
Though I have listed the space as having a maximum capacity of five, I have put this in here to accommodate people who are in a pinch and need to have somebody sleep on the downstairs sofa. If you book this for five people, understand that it is a little bit tight.
Great access to wineries, only 8 miles to downtown Charlottesville and restaurants, shopping, etc. Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and James Monroe's Ash Lawn Highland are only minutes away. James Madison's Montpelier is just a 20 minute drive.
Or simply read a book in the hammock with lovely views of the mountains. Guests also greatly enjoy walking out to fed the horses and ponies carrots.
Über is also available to drive you into town or bring you home. Fares range from $10-$18 depending on the time of day.
I try to be here when guests arrive, but if I'm not I leave detailed instructions. I email detailed directions to the property before the reservation starts. You can have as much or as little interaction as you would like. There are 2 chaise lounges and a hammock in the backyard which you are welcome to use.
Each room has a ceiling fan for summer comfort and the bedrooms have additional tower fans. Windows have screens. There are baseboard heaters that keep the apartment very cozy in the winter. Truly a year-round get away! Screens on all windows keep any bugs at bay!
This is our home, and we look forward to welcoming you to it, but expect the same respect we will give you. Smoking outside only. Please leave the space tidy.
I am a mother of 2 small children, 5 & 7, who also love welcoming folks to our little farm. I love to cook, and am professionally trained, so if you'd like breakfast, or a gourmet picnic lunch, just let me know! You are welcome to come in for coffee and pastries in the morning! We have horses on the farm, who are very friendly, and from time to time we hook the pony up to a little cart and go for a ride. Kids love this! We are very low-key and try to be as stress-free as possible. If you need anything, just ask. If you feel like coming over to the house for a glass of wine, just do!
