Quiet residential neighborhood home overlooking Lake Wingra and Wingra Park. Bright sunny spaces, recycled glass and hickory kitchen, large sun room with gas stove, deck, balcony, solar panels, plug in for electric vehicles. A beautiful peaceful home to share. Walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, zoo, shops, and stadium. We are happy to share our home- fully furnished in every way- when we travel in the winter.
Our home includes a large bedroom with a queen-sized bed with an alcove with an additional double bed futon- suitable particularly for children. There is a balcony and windows over looking Lake Wingra, the park, and arboretum. There are 2 office/ guest bedrooms with 2 single beds, each. The office includes a copier, printer, and fax machine. There is a living room, fully equipped kitchen with hickory cabinets, recycled glass counters, and dishwasher. The sun-room/dinning room seats 8, has Vermont Casting gas stove and opens onto a large deck with a sun-downer shade and steps out into the park.
The guests have exclusive access to the entire home. There is, however, a separate 2-bedroom suite in the lower level with a separate entrance for a caretaker. The owners or someone in their family will be in town to take responsibility for the house and make sure everything functions properly.
Either the owners or family will be in Madison to welcome guests and make sure everything functions properly. There are maps, instructions and suggested activities. Someone will be available to offer suggestions or help but will leave the guests on their own unless they request suggestions or assistance. There will be spices, tea, coffee, and other basics available for the guests use in the kitchen.
There is wireless internet in the home and there is a radio that plays music from phones or other devices but there is no TV. Pets are not permitted becuase of allergies. There is a young children's playground about 100 yards out the back door. Wingra Boats is also in the backyard and offers canoes, kayaks and stand up paddle boards to the public from May through September. The lake is good for swimming. There are several restaurants, coffee houses, pubs, and a Trader Joe's grocery store within walking distance.
- We make our own home available when we are traveling. Our home is full of many pieces of art and artifacts from our travels around the world and is best suited for a calm, peaceful, healthy retreat with pleasant dinners and breakfasts outside on the deck or in the sunny dinning room- both looking over Lake Wingra. It is not a party house and will not respond well to loud drunken football parties. We love children, but our house is no longer set up for children. We have no television or sophisticated music system. Just a radio and speakers that play from a computer or phone. Just treat our home as you would your own home. This is how we try to treat other homes as we travel.
