This is one of two private rooms on the second floor of my home. I live
in the conveniently located flatland Westbrae neighborhood in North Berkeley. We are a short walk to 2 bus lines & BART, several wonderful markets and many restaurants.
**Beginning October 1, 2017, Berkeley visitors will have to pay 14% City tax based on cost of stay. Tax is not included in the rate per night. You will receive an additional request for the City Tax.
When my mother used to visit, this was her room--we still call it "Grandma's Room." Please note that it now has a proper full-size bed, dresser, and chair. It is light and airy and shares a bathroom with the second room on the upstairs floor.
We have internet access, I serve a nutritious buffet breakfast to help you start your day, and there's always coffee, tea, and fresh lemonade available. In addition, outside the kitchen there is a deck with table and chairs where you can eat a meal, read at your leisure, or plan your day while enjoying the peacefulness of my flower garden.
I enjoy sharing my home which is bright and cheerful, music and flower-filled. My kitchen is inviting and well-equipped--and there's usually a pot of tea on the table. Guests are welcome to store and prepare food as long as they clean up after themselves.
I enjoy meeting new people and sharing my home which is bright and cheerful--music and flower-filled. My kitchen is inviting and well-equipped--and there's usually a pot of tea on a counter
or table. Guests are welcome to store and prepare food as long as they
clean up after themselves. Outside the kitchen is a deck overlooking the
garden, a quiet place to enjoy a relaxing meal, read some interesting material, or simply rest from your travels.
I have lived in Berkeley for many years and hosted many people--family, friends, visiting scholars, and visiting musicians--a number of
whom make return visits. I am very familiar with the Bay Area and prepared to offer information about a host of subjects including transportation, activities, and attractions. And if you are coming to a function on the UC campus, having taught at UC/Berkeley I can also help you navigate your way around campus.
I share my home with two friendly, well-behaved sheep dogs, Bearded Collies, who love having people in the house. They have been trained not to enter guests' rooms. In addition, the house is always protected by a fire alarm system and the security aspect of the system can be engaged when desired.
If you book with me, we can discuss your approximate time of
arrival so that I can be home to welcome you.
I live in a non-smoking home. I ask you:
--to please notify me immediately about any problem you find in the room
-- not to smoke any substances
--not to leave open food in your rooms
--not to leave wet towels and other items on the wooden floor and
--not to play loud music
--to clean up after yourselves
--to notify me about any missing or broken items
--to not book with me if you are bringing a dog other than a Seeing Eye
dog, a Dog for the Deaf, or a Search & Rescue dog
In general, I expect you to respect me and my home just as you would expect the same were I a guest in your home.
