This is my actual home, with my and my children's possessions; it's not a property bought exclusively for rental. This means the bookshelves have books, the closets have clothing. Look elsewhere if you want bare. Lengthy house manual required to read before check in.
This is a cute first-floor 2-bed unit on a wonderful, brick-paved street in historic Oak Park. 15 minutes by car from downtown Chicago, and a 15-minute walk to Green Line train. Clean, quiet, and you'll feel right at home!
This space is bright, clean, quiet, and comfortable and is my home where my children and I live, except when we airbnb the place out. Free Wifi is included. If you prefer to enjoy sometime outdoors to take in the beautiful plants and listen to the babbling of the backyard pond, make yourself at home on the picnic table or the back patio with a glass of your favorite beverage, relax, and take in the multitude of beautiful green plants and flowers.
You get the back bedroom which is one full-size bed that sleeps 2. There are 5 hangars in the closet; there is no dresser space. You also get the front bedroom which has an air mattress that sleeps 2 (underneath a loft bed) and a pull-out trundle bed with a mattress and memory foam topper that sleeps 1. For larger groups, you may also have the top 2 bunks of the 2 bunk/loft beds in this bedroom. This room has 5 hangars and no dresser space.
Space to put suitcases is limited. The bedrooms feel full with multiple people, beds, furniture plus suitcases. Suitcases might even need to be kept outside the bedroom, depending on how many guests and how much luggage you have.
Your kitchen is stocked with all the basic ingredients you need, such as oils and salts. You supply what you want to eat around that.
I do not have a television; you may watch TV by logging on to one of the many websites offering quality television for free.
We have a cat who lives in the basement when we have guests, so my house cannot be considered pet-allergen-free.
You'll have full access to the unit, the back porch, the backyard with little pond and fountain, as well as a free parking spot for your vehicle, if needed.
Summer: My air b&b co-host Mark, or Todd, will be meeting my guests within the first 24 hours of their stay! I will be available via email the majority of the time, or Mark or Todd will be available when I am not.
Fall: I could help show you the city, or you can explore it freely on your own! I am available throughout your stay to answer questions that may pop up or to help offer recommendations on restaurants, attractions, etc. Sometimes I might be unavailable to meet you in person due to previous obligations, being out of town, etc. I prefer to leave my cat here when I host airbnb guests, so I ask that my guests feed and give water to my cat.
Due to the fact that we are sharing the building with the resident on the 2nd floor above, I would ask that any of my guests respect this fact. I thank you in advance!
I don't allow excessive drinking, absolutely no underage drinking or illegal drugs, and expect my guests to respect the neighborhood feeling of this space. No other guests or visitors are allowed unless you run it by me first. I allow only airbnb guests into my place of residence. This is strictly a non-smoking unit; no smoking is allowed anywhere on the premises. Other than that, have fun!
Check-ins are welcome anytime between 3 PM and 7 PM. Please check-out by 11 AM. I will not accept check-ins past 10 PM under any circumstances. Late check-outs are not permitted under any circumstances. Early bag drop-off and bag storage after check-out will incur a $25 convenience fee.
I will enter the property with or without notice in the following events: there is a plumbing or other house-related emergency, if lights are left on (with notice), if windows are open and it is raining (with notice), etc. Otherwise, I respect the privacy of my guests.
I am a working mother who loves community and helping people get out and travel! I have recently lived in China for 5 years with my family, am a public schools teacher, and am really proud of my community.
I love yoga, reading and my book club, environmentalism, international cuisine, and SE Asia.
My style of traveling is to get as local as possible. As a host, I am unpretentious but want the same kind of respect you'd want to receive if somebody stayed in your home. I will leave a treat out for you and your family, and wish you a great stay!
