Perfect for family, friends, Wimbledon or business stay - style on 3 floors with 3 full large double bedrooms, light living spaces, office + professionally kitted kitchen. Great fast public transport to Central London + tourist areas plus easy walk 1-3 mins to award-winning restaurants, buses, cafes, Tube, trains, park, gym, outdoor sports, films, music, artisan foods, bars. Comfy beds (king, queen, single) plus daybed, air mattresses for extra guests. Fully equipped with wifi.
The house is a unique design, being the converted and fully modernised 1850s home of a master carpenter who build the elegant mahogany staircase with his apprentice son and laid the lovely oak parquet floors. With skylights, big windows, library-style book shelves (we have lots of books!) and original arts on the walls, this house feels cosy and light even in winter. There are plenty of spaces for everyone's privacy yet also a large open-plan living-dining-kitchen area for socialising and communal eating. Being from the gorgeous rugged peninsula of Cornwall, I've filled the house with original art and objects from the sea, including stones and driftwood from my favourite beaches and coves.
For sleeping: You have a kingsize bed on the top floor in a big room with plenty of floor space also for a queen-size air mattress. Middle floor has a queensize bed in one floor (with floor space) and a single bed in a larger room next door. You can move a sofa-daybed into that room if you want to sleep two people or use the air mattress. Or we often use the sofa in the den as an extra guest bed. Additionally, we have two giant "Fatboy" bean bags that kids often like to move around and sleep on.
If I am not home to greet you, I can arrange keys to come from my lovely neighbours or terrific housekeeper.
The house is yours to use with the exception of some cupboards/closets off limits because of personal effects storage. For a short-term let 30-90 days I can move items into storage to accommodate your needs.
Please remove your shoes when you come inside -- we have wooden floors and white painted stairs. Thank you.
For exercisers, there's a full gym and two swimming pools (one for kids) in a modern well-run public sports centre on the very next corner - with flexible, affordable short term memberships.
When I am at home you'll be welcome to taste what I'm cooking. If I'm away travelling then I am usually easily reachable by email/text/sms and my next door neighbours and lovely housekeeper all have keys.
If you have an early morning flight into London or want to access the house before 3pm, please let me know. Morning arrivals are subject to an extra charge if you want to make sure nobody else is using the house the night before your arrival, especially during busy periods.
Note: Lost keys will incur a charge for keys/locks change.
Please lock windows and close skylight in bathroom when you leave the house.
And please make sure you have both keys to the front doors on you when you go out so that you don't get stuck in the entry porch. (Only one person has ever done that -- a friend's daughter from Los Angeles. I wouldn't want it to happen to you!)
We are a shoes-off inside house, please. Natural oak wooden floors (with rugs) and white painted wooden stairs (two flights).
Open-plan rooms with stairs -- not suitable for unstable toddlers (we don't have stair gates). Babies welcome. Call me to tell me your needs and we can discuss. I love small children and want you to be happy and them to be safe.
