Contemporary studio apartment, lots of natural light, second floor of our home in beautiful Mapleleaf. Separate entry, raised private deck. Walk to cafes, restaurants. Street parking (free and safe) Downtown :12 to :15 and UW :05 to :07 by car. Metro bus stops blocks away. Uber and Lift active.
This is a unique space in that it is up high, making it cozy without feeling closed in. It is a complete studio apartment, becoming a living room space by day and a bedroom by night. It includes a small outdoor deck with room for two to sit surrounded by bamboo. I would describe the Bamboo Loft as private but not totally independent, sharing walls with our home space so its more appropriate for guests looking to relax and settle in or for business travelers than for those looking for complete seclusion or late night partying in the loft space. Coming and going at any hour is totally fine, just be aware that your space is on the second floor over a bedroom. Moderate volume walking and talking is totally fine.
Currently we have a very unique and comfortable foam core futon-like sofa bed. It is convertible into one or two twin beds or a queen size bed. It is easy to convert not requiring a lot of strength. It has a mattress that holds its shape because it has a latex foam core (not a futon), it is wood-framed under the mattress so it is never low in the middle, and has a thick memory foam cover.
Guests should know this is a truly peaceful space. Pristine quiet however may not be available at all times as it is attached to our house. The space is next to our driveway so you may hear muffled sounds of a car starting in the morning or muffled voices between car and house or near the interior stairwell at times.
The space is self contained, having its own entrance from a second floor deck at the side of the house accessed by guests from the west side of the house(look for the bamboo). The space is on the second floor of our split level home. There is a lockable door to an interior stairwell leading from the space to the main house. This door usually stays locked on both sides unless otherwise agreed. Guests enter the studio with a key code given before arrival. There is free parking is on the street which is usually easy to find near or right in front of our home since its a residential street.
We enjoy and welcome new connections but we wish to respect our guests autonomy as well. We will take our cues from our guests as to how much interaction they prefer. We would like to at least meet face to face once just to know who is with us basically if at all possible...and take it from there. We do love getting to know new people, sharing information about our town and region. Years ago I worked as a concierge and have lots of suggestions for things to do, just ask me.
We want you to feel welcomed. Though we will not be providing a full breakfast, feel free to use any foods you find stocked in the cupboard or fridge free of charge. There will be something edible put out for your arrival to help you feel at home.
We are sensible and down-to-earth. We are open-minded and welcoming to all. We would appreciate that guests be mindful of next door neighbors on both sides of the space. Sorry no pets. No smoking of tobacco or ANY OTHER SUBSTANCES on the premises or on the deck, thanks. Please mention any people who will be frequently visiting or staying with you in the space before you book ...not after you book, because the airbnb is on the second floor of our home, we want to be aware of who all our guests will be. Visiting on the deck is a great option in good weather, please do observe quiet hours on the premises and on the deck between 10pm and 8am. Explanations on recycling and bed set up are in the welcome booklet for your convenience. We understand you may have come to Seattle to have a good time. By all means do! Please respect quiet hours since neighbors and your hosts are living and sleeping near by. Welcome to Seattle, we look forward to hosting you!
