Stay in a safe, comfortable, private setting with a private, keyed entrance. You can rest, relax, refresh yourself and bathe.
I loved the private entrance, the ability to come and go wo bothering anyone, I like being able to have my privacy, not worried that I'm bothering anyone else. Gretchen did a nice job of giving me my privacy, wo being remote or distant. I like being able to leave the outside light on so I could feel safe and secure. I also think that she would have provided the items mentioned below if asked. However. ppl who value the privacy she offers, are the same folks who don't like the bother of asking:
Gretchen was extremely friendly and very welcoming. She was very flexible about changing travel plans and helpful and prompt in dealing with any issues (for example when we lost our key). Her home is located in a nice suburb of DC, you will need a car to reach the metro (about ten min by car, Wheaton station) if you want to go into the city. I think it would be inconvenient without a car.
Gretch welcomed me in the evening when I arrived, and we had a pleasant chat when I left two days later. It was fine for a short stay for just me, but for two people it would be too small. The queen size sofa bed takes up most of the room when pulled out. The lighting is good, and the kitchenette and bathroom are okay except that the door to the bathroom is broken. The toilet really doesn't fit the space for it. The place was quiet, secure and the location peaceful. Comment about staying in Silver Spring: the hotels are so expensive! There is not much lodging for folks wanting to visit someone locally; not everyone is on holiday or on business in D.C. So, it's good to have people like Gretch who are willing to rent a space.
Mrs. Gretchen made us feel welcome. The description through Airbnb was accurate. And the neighborhood was nice. Our host tried to make us as comfortable as possible; this room is more suitable for younger people and short terms. The neighborhood is family oriented and the back of this property h meets with a wooded area, with a stream and plenty of wildlife, which we enjoyed.
