The lovely three bedroom property sleeps up to 9 guests and is on the first floor of a traditional Victorian tenement in the popular area of Bruntsfield, just south of the city centre. It is a great base to explore the city from.
Miriam's apartment is beautifully situated on the edge of parkland, with great restaurants and cafes in the neighbourhood. It is an easy walk into the city centre and the bus service is also very good. We loved the small shops to the south of the apartment. It was a perfect spot for our families to enjoy the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where my husband and his band were performing. Parking is not easy, but there is a multi-storey 24-hour car park within a reasonable walking distance.
The hosts were lovely and communication was excellent. The flat has all of the basics covered -- decently stocked kitchen (with a nice sized refrigerator which mattered to us as we stayed for a month), good supply of towels and sheets, two desks if you want to work from the flat (we did), and a fair amount of space. Excellent location. Two issues: the front two bedrooms are right on a main road where lots of busses stop. If noise bothers you keep that in mind. We actually bought desk fans and used them in the rooms to help block out noise (we left them in the flat so hopefully others can use them). The flat doesn't really sleep nine. One of the beds is a small fold out couch that lies on the floor and will comfortably sleep one person who doesn't mind a mattress on the floor. The loft bed is not suitable for anyone who has issues climbing up a difficult ladder. The other beds are fine; mattresses aren't great, but the beds are all doubles.
The host were very friendly which ensured for a good start in Edinburgh. The place is close to the city centre (25min to castle) which is very convenient. The flat is really big which is great for big groups (we were 9). The place is clean and the only minor inconvenient is that there is only 1 shower. I would totally recommend this place that was also much cheaper than any other place in Edinburgh that would accomodate 9 people
