Completed in July 2015, a contemporary barn conversion in the heart of the Dordogne valley, with stunning views across open countryside, 5 mins away from a medieval town with at least 6 good restaurants, shops etc. Sleeps 6 comfortably but there is a sofa bed which accommodates a further 2 people.
If you fancy staying somewhere different for a change then why not try our newly completed contemporary barn conversion. We are situated in the heart of the countryside so a car is essential. We have beautiful views across the valley but are 5 mins away from many restaurants, cafes, bars and shops and the medieval towns and villages that the area is famous for. The local medieval town is just 10 mins away by car with at least 6 good restaurants, shops etc and has year round festivals. There are also nocturnal markets held in the town gardens every Thursday evening throughout July and August.
The barn was built in 1945 just after World War 2 and was built out of the traditional flint that this area of the Dordogne is famous for. We have now transformed it into a contemporary spacious building but still retaining it's character. The barn accommodates 6 people comfortably but there is an additional sofa bed for 2 children thereby increasing the accommodate to 8. There are 2 double bedrooms and a twin room - one of the doubles has an en-suite bathroom. There is also a family bathroom. The sofa bed is only large enough for 2 extra children. We have wi-fi internet, English & French satellite TV and there is an ipod docking station. Cooling fans are in all 3 bedrooms for the summer and there is heating for the winter.
There is a West facing patio and BBQ provided, the patio catches the sun from midday until sunset and the pool is next to the barn so it's handy for cooling off. The pool is solar heated and can reach temperatures of 28-30 degrees in the summer, and sits in an acre of private garden. There is also secure gated off road parking. In the adjoining small barn you will find a games room/laundry room equipped with a full size billiard table and table tennis, there is also a washing machine and drying towers for your laundry.
The area is really quite and a long way from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A holiday in our barn will give you the best of both worlds - a quite relaxing break, or the chance to get out and explore the area as there is enough to see and do here to fill every day - the choice is up to you!
The barn is self contained so you can come and go as you please
A welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits and a bottle of wine is provided with our compliments and if there is an evening where you don't fancy going out but don't particularly fancy cooking either then we can offer you an evening meal cooked by our own chef. This would be served either in the gite or "al fresco" whichever you prefer. Details of menus etc are provided in a welcome pack on arrival or we could send you some sample menus by request and are priced at 22 euros per person.
The barn is non smoking
minimum stay 3 nights
We are Steve & Sue Lawn, and have lived in france now since 2006. This is our second property in France, the first one being a converted Watermill in Brittany which we let out as a gite. Having previously owned two restaurants in the UK (one with a Bed and breakfast attached in Devon) we are well used to the hospitality trade and will give you a warm welcome here at Le Cerisier.
