Les Verveines is a traditional stone Quercy farm house situated in Mareuil, a small village in a wooded valley near Souillac, 500 metres from the River Dordogne, between Rocamadour and Sarlat. We are open all year round. Our "Chambre des amis" has independent access and a ground floor kitchen and a shower room en suite. All bedding and towels are provided.
The room has its own private terrace with table and chairs and overlooks the garden and swimming pool . Exellent restaurants are only minutes away.

Our continental breakfast, which is included in the price, is bought fresh daily from the boulangerie and is served with fresh fruit in season and home made jams.

We are within easy touring distance of all the major sites on the Dordogne and the Lot. We recommend St Cirq la Popie, Valley of the Célé, Grottes de Peche Merle, La Roque Gagnac, and the many chateaux in the area - the list is endless. We have maps for driving, walking and cycling in the area. We are surrounded by excellent petite randonées and miles of voie vert cycle paths. Summers are hot and dry, autumn is normally mild and sunny with fabulous autumn colours. We can have sharp frosts in January & February and spring is glorious with all the plants and flowers at least a month in advance of the U.K. You will want to take back home Cahors and Malbec wines, walnuts, Foie Gras and goose and duck confits, fruit conserves and liqueurs - especially Vieille Prune, the local liqueur distilled in Souillac.

French & English spoken.

Minimum stay 2 nights in July & August.

The room has independant access from its private terrace in the garden. There is a fully equiped kitchen available at a charge of 10€ a day which is at ground level where you may prepare snacks and drinks,or cook and eat an evening meal.

We live out in the country near to a farm and noisy agricultural machinery goes past our house especially at harvest time. You may hear chickens, geese ,donkeys , sheep and cows. You may be kept awake by a nightingale singing in the walnut tree. The dawn chorus is fabulous! and because we have no light pollution star gazing is a must..bring your telescope!

If you're looking for a once in a lifetime get away in the Dordogne Valley, this is the place! These two, Elyn and Paul, are wonderful as well as their Bed and Breakfast. They provided an outstanding breakfast every morning we were there. We've stayed in 5 places and have experienced some great things, but the breakfasts we were provided were truly unbeatable. Their conversation and knowledge of the area were greatly appreciated and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean with Elyn's art hanging on the walls. The deck out front is a great place to just listen to the sounds of song birds and what we believe to be the cicadas buzzing. The pool is refreshing, private, and very close to the apartments front door. The Dordogne River is a pleasant walk away of about 5-10 minutes. There are numerous places to eat in the surrounding towns.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit with Elyn and Paul. They gave us an awesome recommendation for dinner (Le Roi Carotte), and then treated us the next morning to an excellent breakfast with delightful conversation. Our accommodation had a separate entrance which made access quite easy. The beds were very comfortable and the room was nicely furnished. Outside our door was a very nice patio for enjoying the country air.

Nous sommes très bien accueils par Elyn et Paul, le logement est indépendant et décoré avec des tableaux dessinés par Elyn. Le lendemain ils nous préparent un petit déjeuner copieux avec des fruits de la saison. Merci encore Elyn et Paul

Elyn and Paul are amazing hosts! They provided help with every need and really know the Dordogne area well. I highly recommend them to Airbnb guests. However, you must love dogs (and cats), etc, and I do!

Elyn and Paul are very kind, sociable and helpful hosts. They provided us with a delicious breakfast, helped us get reservations for dinner at an excellent place, and gave us good driving directions. The room was very comfortable and clean. Parking was very easy. It is right in front of the little house where the room is. We highly recommend this place.

Wonderful place and lovely hosts. A perfect private space for our brief visit. Our host gave us great driving suggestions...a different way to come upon Rocamadour and it was one of the most breath taking and beautiful experiences we have had during our travels through Eurupe. Breakfast was superb! Excellent place - we would highly recommend.

We stayed at Elyn and Paul's for three nights. Their house was well appointed, secluded, comfortable, and beautiful. We had a bathroom en suite, and good Wi-Fi. We had good parking space for our rental car. Elyn and Paul provided us with breakfast and great conversation each morning, and we were grateful for their recommendations for things to do in the area. We also loved saying hello to their dog Holly, their cat Inti, and their chickens every morning! Elyn has a great talent for painting scenes of the region, and has great samples of her work lining the room walls, available for sale to any interested buyers. Some tips on what it's like around the house: Sarlat and many other towns are nearby with restaurants and little stores for supplies. Keep in mind that if you visit in the off season (not between June-August) like we did, these do tend to close sightly earlier. The neighborhood is pure nature, and the stars are clearly visible in the night sky. You'll be relying on your headlights quite a bit if you're driving after sunset. In summary, I'd highly recommend staying here for a tour in the area. Elyn and Paul are great hosts, and we'd love to stay with them again on a future trip!
