Gorgeous cottage with lots of character and charm. A huge bonus was having access to the amazing gardens at the back. Location was perfect - a 5 minute walk away from Arundels (for delicious seafood chowder and Bantry bay mussels) and the fantastic Ahakista Pub (or tin pub as it's known) for pints and chats and one of the most beautiful beer gardens in the county!
Annabel's house is an old Irish stone house which has been tastefully decorated and furnished in an eclectic and tasteful style. The place is full of quirky touches and Annabel's artwork is everywhere. We returned home with a few purchases from the shop. Behind the house is a 3 acre garden with pond, sensory walk, cuney pigs, viewpoint and gorgeous planting To the front of the house is a secluded area with great views over the Bay. The house itself has a kitchen diner with microwave cooker gas hob and dining table for 4 comfortably. There is a living room with wood burning stove with sofa bed and armchair. upstairs a light filled double room and cute twin room both with views over the sea. Annabel and Klaus were friendly and helpful although we really didn't have any issues with the house to ask them about. Phone correspondence was efficient. For the money we didn't expect 5 star luxury and it's not a Hotel but everything you need is here, the house is very comfortable and the owners are kind and helpful It's a great base to explore West Cork but you will need a car. We stopped in Aldi in a nearby town to stock up en route as the sterling /euro rate was not kind . There is a convenience store in Durrus which we didn't visit. There are 2 pubs close by one with a typical looking pub menu and both with beer gardens. A little oasis of calm. Recommended. Valerie
