My wife and I are both professionals and busy, but we are also around often enough. We enjoy meeting guests and giving advice on restaurants, sights, music venues, and directions, and hearing about your travels, and helping make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Street parking is plentiful on our block, and try first to park in front of our house where there are about four spaces available.
We are in a quiet tree-filled residential neighborhood, and live above this space, so we ask for TV and music volume to be moderate and appropriate for time of day, and that voices quiet down on the deck later in the evening. We want our guests to enjoy each other in these lovely surroundings, but the studio is not designed for gatherings or parties. If you have friends in the area, fine to have one or two stopping in for coffee or wine, but no group dinners or parties since the space simply isn't adequate for that -- please go out with them or visit at their places if you hope to party later and louder. We are happy to recommend great places for music, gatherings, etc. We can't allow smoking inside or outside -- our home insurance precludes it and smoke sets the smoke alarms off -- no fun for any one. Thanks for understanding that these rules also provide you with a beautiful, peaceful, and retreat-like ambience.
We are a couple who enjoy meeting people from all over and have been part of the Airbnb community since its start. I am a real estate consultant/founder of a San Francisco firm and my wife is a clay sculptor and doctor of Asian Medicine, and former professor of literature. We love travel, reading, exploring our gorgeous Bay Area and beyond while hiking, kayaking, and biking, attending live music concerts, food and wine tasting, and visiting with our two twenty-something daughters. We have had a talented Berkeley designer/craftsman-builder renovate our home with views of the Bay and San Francisco, which we let you enjoy in its separate fully appointed studio apartment. Our style is informal and welcoming. We can give tips to explore the Bay Area with Berkeley's "gourmet ghetto," the UC Berkeley art museum and campus, nearby artisan and coffee shops, and parks. Enjoy art walks and hiking trails or heading to San Francisco, the wine country, or Half Moon Bay and Big Sur for day trips. We are respectful of your privacy and if you want to check-in and be independent we'll offer that as you wish also. We hope in return you treat our beautifully restored abode as if it were your own home. We have earned the "Super Host" designation by being attentive to every detail. We are happy to host you and our goal is to offer you a top guest experience.
