This landmark property continues a 175 year tradition of welcoming travelers to Portland with a first floor, 2 bedroom flat, modern appointments, and parking. Located perfectly harbor side where the historic West End meets the Old Port.
Built in 1842, by Captain John Hasty, this landmark property underwent a three year preservation style rehabilitation completed late in 2016. The result is a historic property boasting distinctively modern touches that respect the buildings history. The original floors were restored. The original moldings, fireplace casings and doors were tediously preserved. Exposed brick was reclaimed.
Nine foot ceilings and southern exposure will brighten even the coldest winter day. Items found hidden in walls and under floorboards are on display as decoration and help tell the 175 year story. For nearly two centuries the Captain Hasty House overlooked the harbor, welcoming mariners and travelers. Stay in a part of Portland's rich maritime history.
You have access to the entire first floor flat. This self contained unit includes a modestly equipped kitchen, bathroom, washer/dryer, two bedrooms and an open living dining area. Please relax anywhere on the outside of the property, but we encourage you to take a few steps across the street to Harborview Park- it is a true urban oasis and is enjoyed safely day and night. Also nearby are two playgrounds if you are traveling with children as well as the Reiche Elementary School play fields.
I enjoy sharing my local knowledge of this fine city and I'm just as pleased to leave you in complete privacy. Tell me what you need.
The property is located adjacent to Portland's historic Danforth street corridor, the most popular route for walking from the West End to the Old Port.
I welcome your occasional visitors, however if your travel plans include wanting to host a party on the property it should be communicated prior to booking.
Unfortunately I am unable to host pets. I politely ask you to smoke outside.
