Being on the lower level in a big, old house means you will hear the creak of wood floors above you, the occasional sound of water through the pipes, and other people moving about or voices in other parts of the house (although your space is insulated). Generally the house is pretty quiet most of the time with specific quiet hours from 10 pm - 6 am, although there may be some noise as people occasionally enter or exit in between these times.
The apartment and home are bone dry spaces no matter how much rain we get! :) But for fresh Portland air, the windows open easily. The home is air-conditioned and the apt stays quite cool even in the hottest summer heat. However, a fan is in the space for a breeze if you prefer it, and a heater if you need it.
This space is perfect for guests looking for an oasis in the center of Portland with easy access to all parts of the city. If you are coming for an event or for some R&R, or you need to get a lot of work done, this is a well-located, comfortable accommodation.
You are welcome to use the seating on the old-fashioned front porch.
Feel free to ask for recommendations around Portland or for anything you need related to the space. If you would like to have a chat over tea or coffee, just let me know! I'm happy to talk with you. :-)
The main house is home to a very sweet rough collie (like Lassie). He is well-behaved for a puppy and typically only barks when he wants to go outside or someone comes to the door. He does have doggie door access to the backyard space so please do not open the back gate.
Quiet hours are generally between 10 pm and 6 am.
This home is maintained as a smoke- and drug-free property--this also means no smoking out windows, outside the door or in the driveway, patio or porch.
This is a shoe-free space--please take off your shoes upon entering.
