You will be staying on the ground floor of a traditional Savoyard farmhouse. The gite consists of front door entrance to kitchen, shower room with WC, 1 bedroom with door, 2 bedrooms with curtains, living space separate from kitchen with TV. We live above the gite in an apartment.
You will be staying on the ground floor which is the traditional living space of a large savoyard farmhouse. It is cool in summer and warm in winter courtesy of its thick stone walls. A picnic bench and BBQ are at your disposal for BBQ's or evening wine, which can be enjoyed immediately outside the gite or under our cherry tree out of the heat in summer. There is a field in front of the house for young explorers though as it's not flat it's not perfect for football.
You will have access to the whole of the gite and its facilities and also access to a bike/ski storage area if needed. Wet kit can be dried in the same room in winter (and summer if needed). As keen skiers and bike riders ourselves you have access to various repair tools etc should you need them. A washing machine is provided for your use, plus access to a drying line and a tumble dryer is available if needed.
We have lived in the area for a number of years now and we are very willing to help you make the most of your stay here, whether that means helping with making a reservation in French to providing details of places to visit and things to see.
We have a number of pets; a dog, horses and hens. The dog is fond of visitors and can come and say hello to younger visitors. However, if you don't appreciate our furry friends they can be easily contained! The horses like the occasional carrot but unfortunately are not available for horse rides - carrot feeding lessons can be given to uninitiated! If willing, kids can be shown how to feed the hens and can taste the lovely fresh eggs.
The bathroom is long and narrow and currently it is necessary to walk through the wet room shower to reach the toilet. It isn't difficult to dry the area with the squeegee provided and it doesn't stay wet for long. Although we do have plans to change the set up for the time being it hasn't caused anyone any problems.
We expect you to behave as you would do in your own home where you have your own belongings and pay the bills. If you wouldn't do it at home please don't do it here.
All waste is fed into a septic tank therefore advice will be given when you arrive as to what can and what cannot be flushed or rinsed away. Don't worry - it's not complicated ;0)
Since our home is the apartment above, we ask that you respect closely AirBnB's advice to not invite others to the gite without running it past us first. It shouldn't be a problem but we'd like to give our consent before people we don't know or aren't expecting arrive at the house. Our neighbours are very friendly but they also shouldn't be invited onto the property without notifying us first.
Please do not smoke in the house. You are welcome to smoke outside but please dispose of cigarette butts responsibly.
Beds are made up according to the number of visitors. A cot is provided for infants but no bedding for the cot. If you are staying with an infant and the infant will sleep with one parent in the bed and the other parent will sleep elsewhere please let us know so that we can accommodate your wishes.
Please leave the gîte as you find it. If you move furniture please put it back in its original place before you leave.
