If you are a Professional/commercial photographer or someone that is in your party attempting to book this property for filming/photo shoots or music videos I do not accept booking via Airbnb for these activities. You are very welcome to start the conversation here or do so through (website hidden). Our rates are very different for shoots and I require approval of the project, contracts and insurance. Please do not attempt to do a photo shoot or bring in a production/crew secretly or to enhance your portfolio.

The number of people who may be on the property at any one time is the same number of renters stated on the reservation confirmation. In other words - no non-renting quests are permitted. If you would like to invite quests over for a drinks or dinner you must receive permission ahead of time from the owner.

The lease begins at 4 pm on the check in date and ends at 11 am on the check out date. We can be flexible if time allows but you must get these approved.

For security, the person making the booking is required to email me a photo of their ID. Also you must complete your airbnb profile with cell phone and offline ID verification and an image.

Treat the place with respect as you would your own home. I'm not against people having fun, but be mindful and respectful. In other words, don't trash the place.

Smoking is permitted outdoors only.
Be kind to mother nature and respect the desert. It is a magical place. Much of its magic depends on the creatures that live on or near this property.
Don't EVER leave door opens. Wildlife is often NOT seen but is EVER present and they are watching YOU. Rats, scorpions, and SNAKES, to name a few of the fun creatures, can find their way in if you leave a door OPEN. Don't do it!!! Snakes and reptiles and three kinds of squirrels also live here in this WILDERNESS.

Sound has a funny way of traveling in the desert and although there are only two other house in the area, be aware and respectful of the neighbors. If you are playing music keep the volume at a reasonable level. When using any of the fire places be very careful and do not leave fires unattended ever. Practice proper fire safety, you will be held responsible for any miss use or damage. You are responsible for your own safety on the property, and the owner will not be held responsible for injury. Pay attention to your surroundings, you are in the wilderness. So be aware, mindful, and respectful. Do not disturb or taper with the desert animals, plants or boulders in anyway.

Dogs may be allowed but the renter must first contact the owner for a discussion. We understand that many people do not want to leave their dogs behind when they go on vacation. We are open to having dogs stay at the Atomic Ranch so long as their owners are sensitive to and understand some basic issues.

Cary is an amazing host and very accommodating. The home is very clean and cozy and has pretty much everything you need. The property is truly unique and special, there's really nothing else like it. You can tell how much work and detail has been put into every inch of the house and it's surroundings. Great views, close to restaurants and bars, close to the park. A definite must if you're going to be staying in Joshua Tree. We had a great time celebrating my birthday here and I definitely plan on coming back next time I'm out in the desert.

Came out to the Atomic Ranch to celebrate my birthday and couldn't have asked for a greater place. TONS of space and places for people to sleep and a great view of the valley entering Joshua Tree National Park. Our favorite part was the outdoor area and the vintage trailers which added to the ambiance of the sunsets. We will definitely be staying at the Ranch again!

I thought the Atomic Ranch looked amazing based on the photos, but in person, it's even cooler. We loved all the vintage ephemera (both indoors and outdoors) — and the large table on the patio was perfect for our group. Cary was great on providing us all the information we needed and sent a text to make sure everything was going well. Will definitely recommend this place to friends!

We had the most amazing weekend at the Atomic Trailer Ranch! The house and property were very clean, and the 1950s atomic aesthetic was incredibly enchanting (wait till you see the fridge!). The previous review about mice turned out to not be accurate. We didn't see a single mouse in the house, and were very pleased with how tidy everything was. The house is in the middle of the desert, so you will probably see wildlife--but that's part of the appeal of this place. The host, Cary, was also very attentive and responsive. We honestly couldn't be any happier with our experience. Everything about Joshua Tree is magical, and the Atomic Trailer Ranch is the perfect way to add an extra touch of magic to an already epic stay.

Unique/quirky Ranch. Two of the bathrooms are on one side of the sprawling house. Mice! We saw one the first day, and several the second day. They are in the main couch, closet, bathroom, and under the oven. It's the wilderness. Our group understood that, so I rated this airbnb as ok. However, we were surprised at the amount of them. This was not 1 or 2 mice that got in thru the door. I suspect Cary will resolve this issue quickly, but as of 5/15/2017, there is a mice infestation. When I told Cary about this fact, he was apologetic, but defensive. With so many options in Joshua Tree, we won't be staying here again.
This review reminds me of something my dad always told me: "Life is not always fair." My home in Joshua Tree is on the edge of the wilderness, and we're subject to the critters who live on and around our property. Anyone with a home in Joshua Tree or the desert for that fact will agree--the wildlife come and go. I take my hosting responsibilities very seriously and with diligence maintain a sparkling clean home and free of rodents.  As you can see I am a "super host" and my other 125 reviews are a testimony to this.  Mark and I talked before he arrived at the Ranch. He asked for early check-in and late checkout, and I accommodated his request. After the initial contact, I didn't hear from Mark again--not on Friday, Saturday nor Sunday.   My cell phone call/text log does not show any attempted contact from Mark over the course of the weekend nor did I receive any emails or messages thru Airbnb.  The gaping hole in the logic of Mark's review is that after he saw the so-called "infestation" he had added extra guests to his party and paid for them at the end of the stay on Sunday thru the Airbnb site. Why would someone who was so concerned with his guests' safety stay the entire time? And if mice were such a big problem why would he stay additional time, subjecting his guests to more danger? Why would he not contact me immediately? Mark had plenty of ways and opportunities to speak up.  You have to ask yourself why didn’t he??? I, not Mark, called after their stay to ask how his visit was and this is the moment he mentioned he saw mice. I apologized and offered some compensation even before verifying his story.  Mark stated he wanted to speak with the members of his party before he agreed.  Afterwards, he demanded a full refund with the threat of a bad review. Mark had a party of 12, plus a dog, on my property for three days and two nights, with early check-in and late check-out, After his stay he demands a full refund, something is wrong with this picture.  I personally stayed in my home two nights before his stay and there was no evidence of his claim.  I'm fortunate to have enjoyed the same cleaning service for the last nine years. They are extremely diligent, seeing and cleaning every corner of every room in my home some times twice a week.  I can't say I've never seen mice and/or other critters on the property, but there is no infestation, there are no nests, and there certainly is no danger. Mark's review is inaccurate and deliberately malicious. He demanded a full refund and when he didn't get it, wrote this bad review. We had such a wonderful weekend at Cary's place! Had a large group and there was more than enough space for everyone. We spent most of our time gathered around the big table outside and the fire pit- the outdoor space is really awesome. Really close to the park and not too close to neighbors - felt like we were in the park with Joshua Trees in the yard. Cary was a great host who was always quick to get back to us and very helpful.

This place was awesome. Cary is a great communicator. We had 10 guys here for a hiking trip and it fit all of us no problem. We had an amazing time and I would recommend it to anyone.

Hello I'm a contractor/builder and decorative artist. Being a native I have spent some time in the deserts of California and have always felt the pull of Joshua Tree which can be hard to explain unless you experience for yourself. I enjoy sharing with others and hope they feel the magic that I do when visiting this space. I would be happy to help you plan your visit to Joshua Tree and surrounding area.
