A taste of Turkey but without the language barrier!
I am American, my wife is Turkish, and we, both fun-loving individuals, are looking forward to hosting you.
The apartment is located in the heart of the city, 5 minutes from Taksim Square and 5 minutes from Nistantasi, and right across from the Military Museum, one of Istanbul's premier museums.
Right next to the apartment there is a grocery store and there are several large supermarkets within 3-5 minutes walking distance. There are a number of great restaurants, bars, cafes, specialty sweets shops, and tourist shops nearby, but since our flat is located in a residential neighborhood, it's a very nice quiet place to come home to after the hustle and bustle of Sultanahmet and Taksim. Plus, since we're located right next to the Vatican consulate, a number of business buildings, and luxury hotels, it is a very safe neighborhood.
Our place is a large 3-bedroom apartment. One of the rooms, the one listed in the photographs, is available to guests. The bedroom that you have seen in the pictures will be yours. It get lots of natural light in the morning and is equipped with a large double bed (which is also separable into two single beds if two friends do not want to sleep side-by-side), a dresser and a wardrobe in which you can store your belongings, mirrors, a table lamp... pretty much every amenity you can ask for. We also have a fan for the room, so it is very comfortable in the summer, and it has a great heater and so is warm in the winter.
In the apartment:
The flat itself is fully furnished. The kitchen has a toaster, tea machine, various kinds of tea, a kettle, and all kinds of cooking utensils. The living room has lots of seating, television, wi-fi, and a balcony with a beautiful view of the neighborhood and the expansive garden of the Vatican consulate. We have an iron and ironing board, travel books and other reading material, clean towels and linens, a hair dryer. The bathroom has a shower with great water pressure and water as hot as you want it. We do not let guests do laundry in our machine, but there are laundry services available one block down from our apartment.
You don't like public transport but want to be near it anyway? We feel the same way. Our flat is situated just 5-8 minutes from two different metro (subway, underground) stops and just 15 minutes from the tramway. From the flat, you are within walking distance of all of the great sights in Istanbul.
Getting to the flat from the airport is extremely easy. From both Istanbul airports there is a shuttle service that brings you to within about 5 minutes of my flat. If you let me know when you will be arriving, I can meet you in Taksim Square and show you to the apartment.
Also, if you would like to rent a whole place to yourself and stay in a 200-year-old historical Greek house that is located right in the heart of Taksim (even more centrally located than my already centrally located flat), please check out my other listings.
We do not let guests use the washing machine here at the flat. There is, however, a laundromat and dry cleaner nearby. We have tea and coffee that guests should feel free to help themselves to. We have a dish washer for dirty dishes, so no one need sully their hands.
I have lived in Istanbul for over five years. I am married. My wife and I live near Taksim because that is where the life of Istanbul is, but Taksim is a hectic place, so we live in a quieter neighborhoold that is a 5-10 minute walk from Taksim Square.
We love making new friends and look forward to hosting you. We are big fans of coffee in the morning and beer or wine on our balcony or in Taksim at night.
Since I have lived in Istanbul for so long, I am effectively a tourist guide in my own right, so even if you don't have an itinerary, or are overwhelmed by the number of things to see and do, I can help to point you in all the right directions.
