Our family of 6 stayed in Nicolas and Jean-Yves's place for a week, and we couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. The architecture, interior design, and furnishings were impeccable, and it was all in top condition. The photos do not exaggerate; this house was even more fabulous than we anticipated based on reviews and photos. On cleanliness: the home was as clean as a 4 star hotel. This was my first AirBNB experience, and after reading reviews and listings for many properties, I was prepared for a lower standard. Not here. The linens were crisp, clean and new, the towels were fluffy and bright white, the kitchen shined, and not one corner of the house was neglected. The hosts provided a very useful book of information, which you should read. One note about the dryer: there is no drain; the water collects in a basin which you simply empty after each load. All of the conveniences of a typical high end American home are here, including air conditioning in the bedrooms, an ice maker, large beds, and even a second dishwasher so that if you make a big meal you don't have to wash the pots and pans! Just one small thing: I knew in advance that European bed linens do not typically include a top sheet. My husband is a "hot sleeper" and prefers a sheet with no blankets, so I brought one for him. It's hard to imagine anyone being disappointed with this rental. I would recommend Nicolas and Jean-Yves's home, unconditionally.
We've stayed in hotels and homes around the world and this was one of our favorites. Our communication with Nicolas was great as we planned logistics and the house was exactly as we'd hoped when we arrived. During our introductory tour with Nicolas we were provided with an extremely helpful comprehensive guide regarding the home, transportation, and area amenities. The house is beautiful and has a floor plan that can facilitate both social interactions and "alone time". Having access to gym equipment, a sauna, and a steam room was awesome, especially after all of the daily walking. There are bakeries, a grocery store, and pharmacy just outside the house, so you'll be covered if you prefer to cook or need sundries. The Voltaire metro is a 2 minute walk from the house, but you also have close access to bus lines that can take you around the city. We used Paris Visite passes during our stay and were able to travel to all of the Zone 1 through 3 areas of interest within 30 minutes or less. We also traveled to Disneyland Paris and Versailles during our stay (using Paris Visite Zone 1 through 5 passes during those days) and were able to reach each place from the house within 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the day. If taxis are your thing, there's a taxi stand only a 2 minute walk from the house (this was helpful when we left for CDG - FYI, that trip cost 50 Euro). The home is conveniently located on a street that will take you directly to either Pere Lachaise Cemetery (walking in one direction, towards the Voltaire metro) or to Place de la Bastille (walking in the other direction). If you walk in the direction of Place de la Bastille you'll find a lot of restaurants as you near the monument, so don't forget to check them out. We really enjoyed our stay at Nicolas and Jean-Yves' home during our visit to Paris and would love to stay there again if the opportunity arose.
One of the most incredible Airbnb's I've ever stayed in. A true gem in the heart of Paris. Wake up and sip coffee on one of the many balconies. Treat yourself to a sauna or hammam after a long day of exploring the city. Nicolas and Jean-Yves could not be better hosts; communicative, receptive and helpful. This is a gem of a home and has everything you need!
