HOST – Marina is very nice. We only met her once. She doesn’t really speak English but she’ll make herself understood. It’s best to communicate via airbnb with her since she replies almost immediately and everything will be automatically translated for her and for you. Make sure you pay attention when she explains to you how not to lock yourself out of your room and the apartment, as the locks can be a little tricky. She contacted us often to make sure everything was ok.
ARRIVAL – Once you arrive at Via Marruccini 14, you need to ask Marina which bell to press, as they are not labelled. This way, she’ll know you’re downstairs and come greet you and open the door for you. If you have a local phone you can also call her, but if you just arrived from abroad you probably will not have one.
INTERNET – Works great! If you need a computer or to print something, you can walk to the internet cafe down the block.
TRANSPORTATION – Bus 492 will drop you off from the center right across the street from the apartment. It brings you pretty close to the Vatican, Colliseum, Fontana di Trevi, etc. The metro/subway is not very close to the house. You can always take bus 492 to Termini, the main train and bus station, or walk there (approx. 15 min).
LOCATION – A bit far from the center but we still walked to and from there a few times. It’s about 15 minutes walking from the train station. Please be aware that the train station area is very sketchy at night and there’s usually homeless people sleeping around there.
SUPERMARKETS – If you turn left once you leave the building and then make your first right, you will find 2 supermarkets almost right across one from the other. One’s Elite and the other one I believe is called TuoDi. You can find everything you need there.
KITCHEN – There is a 5Euro per night fee for using the fully equipped kitchen in the apartment. There is a beautiful terrace right next to the kitchen where you can eat. There is no microwave but there is an oven, gas stove, and a big fridge with a freezer. There is also a washing machine which we didn’t use, but no drier or rack to hang clothes to dry.
CLEANLINESS – Excellent. The towels smelled fresh, everything was impeccable.
ROOMS - Every one of the 4 rooms has extremely secure doors, as you would find on a typical entry door leading to the street. It seems all the rooms have their own toilet en suite. The only thing we did not like about the apartment and the room (the purple one) was the mattress and pillows. We found them to be uncomfortable.
Please note that there is a 50 or 30 Euro fee for checking in and/or out at irregular hours. Ask Marina whether these charges will apply to you.
