This is our home away from home. It's close to Lake Michigan and Portage Lake, on a quiet and secluded street with plenty of sun and views of nature. The cottage is good for year-round use, and is move-in ready for a weekend or a week.
This is a year-round house that is tucked away but close to Portage Lake and Lake Michigan. The cottage has three bedrooms, a large living / dining room, and enormous eat-in kitchen. The space is large enough for a group to relax, but laid out so that you can escape to a quiet corner if necessary.
Guests will have access to the entire house and yard.
We do not live year-round in the Onekama area, but we have made connections with all of the local contractors -- HVAC, plumber, electrician, roofer, tree removal -- if any assistance is needed during a stay.
The house purposefully has no clocks (except for the stove and microwave) so enjoy your time at the house to slow down and relax.
This is our family cottage. We treat it as our home and expect others to do the same. No smoking, no pets, no noisy parties. Most everything in the cottage is for our guests to use, but we ask that you treat everything with respect and use with care. We also expect our guests to treat each other with kindness and love while at our cottage. Rules for the kids are 1) no whining, 2) no back talk, 3) have fun.
It is our happy place, and we want the good karma of this home to be enjoyed by all so remember to say please and thank you, say good morning and good night with a smile on your face and love in your heart, and be present so you truly enjoy all of your moments there.
I'm working mom and wife who loves to travel and spend time at our homes in Illinois and Michigan. We prefer the comfort of home when traveling, which means hotels are rather unappealing. Relaxation, golf, running, site-seeing, and hiking are some of our favorite activities, and I've been know to seek out a good spa.
Our home away from home in Michigan is in the small town where I grew up vacationing, and it's pure magic to me. My husband loves the nearby golf, the boys love the lakes, we all love the hikes, and the quiet is a nice change from Evanston. Onekama is a small town with few amenities which is perfect for us. We cook, hike, play cards, do puzzles, swim, and do a lot of electronic- free activities.
