first, do read the other reviews--every positive ABnB review is accurate (for us there were no negatives). add to that, host pierre, who is creatively accommodating (w.o ever being fussy) and absolutely committed to the finest experience of his guests. in elegantly simple quarters, we were provided absolute privacy and security, five minutes from both the airport and quepos (manuel antonio reserve is another ten minutes beyond quepos). i write from the veranda on our last morning, soothed by the calls of a half dozen birds, several geckos, spotting the occasional butterfly, recalling the pre-dawn rumbling of howler monkeys in the close-surrounding jungle. with our friends, we enjoyed meals featuring super fresh ingredients from the outdoor market in quepos, prepared in the kitchen (well-equipped with cook tools and storage containers, xlnt appliances, great view of the mountains beyond), served on the generous wraparound tiled porch, cooled by commercial grade ceiling fans in and out, plus a sitting area and heavenly hammock, and great lighting. pierre's wonderful use of color in furnishings and local art added immensely to the sense of peace and contentment. favorite things? upon landing at teeny quepos airport from san jose, there was pierre, to welcome and introduce us to his meticulous compound (in a private gated community, once a palm oil plantation) and the surrounding area (with needed ATM and cafe stops, driving all around at sunset so we had our bearings). pierre's absolute availability (with a phone call, we were booked on three fine adventures with world class guides through the national park, mangroves and kayaking/snorkling the coast). pierre and his visiting adult son, giovanni, offered rides to town daily which made provisioning easy (cheap local buses--$1USD for two people--and taxis--$8USD to MA) stop just outside the gates. pierre’s crystal clear communication and incredibly positive life perspective. more favorites? the place is immaculate. giovanni's spanish lessons over coffee a few mornings. pierre's three boxers (beau, ben and sophie) and tiger cat (leo), who visited politely once our gate was open. the impromptu side trip w P and G to a local swimming hole. xlnt wifi (only once was it weak--i was in contact daily with my office--and pierre had the fix). the local cell phone that pierre provided, loaded with minutes, to facilitate communication. the phenomenon of having an idea of something nice to do and pierre offering to make it happen before the request had been spoken (thinking about a ever-unfolding sunset from the quepos seawall). the serenity of location, away from traffic and crowded tourist streets. being able to laze for hours wearing just a pareo (we visited in the quite warm 'dry' season). coming from working in international travel, and having experienced a nice chunk of this wonderful world, i rate pierre's treehouse beyond 5-star for our tastes, with enormous gratitude. pura vida indeed!

I stayed at Pierre's chalet for two wonderful months. I am an older single guy, 68 and divorced who had never been to Costa Rica before. I just wanted to experince winter in a warm climate as I am from Northern Wisconsin. So I was a rookie in Costa Rica with a very limited knowlege of how to speak Spanish. Pierre introduced me to other guest as they came France, the US, and Germany. We all bounded together and planed day trips together. We had great fun swimming in mountain rivers or the Pacific and the beaches are drop dead georgeos. Pierre was so courteous. About each day he would drop by and knock about 10 in the morning and say good morning in his heavy French Canadian accent, very charming and helpful man. He gave me many great tips on where to eat or cool places to visit. The mountains, rain forest and Pacific were all fun to visit. I also went on a couple of fishing charters and had a blast. Both times we trolled and caught sail fish, which were released. Also, caught numerous nice size red snapper which we kept and were delious to eat. I loved eating fresh fruit which was picked daily and sold at the local market. They made great smoothies to start the day with fresh Costa Rican coffee. Overall, tyhis was the best long vaction of my life and I plan on going back to stay with Peirre next year as the days I spent in Quepos were all 80+ degrees and sunny. While back in Wisconsin it was cold and snowy most of Jan. and Feb. I woke up this morning in Wisconsin and looked out at a snow storm and 20 degree temperatures. Kind of a shock after spending 2 months with Pierre in his 80 degree paradise. Jim

Pierre was very warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. He offered us plenty information on the local beach, places to eat, and ways to get around town. The chalet itself was very clean, secure, and offered lots of privacy right in the middle of the rain forest. The kitchen was stocked with kitchen utensils, coffee maker, blender, stove, and refrigerator. Even though we didn't use the kitchen because we ate out during our stay we were able to enjoy fresh cup of coffee in the evenings. It was an amazing experience to listen to the variety of birds, insects, and howling monkeys during the day and night. The WiFi offered the convenience of using our smartphones to keep in touch with family back home. I would highly recommend Pierre's chalet.

Our stay, for my wife and I, at Pierre's East Chalet was good. Pierre is a very nice host. He showed us around the nearby area before showing us the Chalet. He was also quick to help us with our luggage and was very helpful when we had problems. We felt a bit uncomfortable upon arrival and had to tidy up the place to feel better. Our sheets had an unpleasant scent when we arrived but Pierre changed them before our second night. Also, the shower head was broken and was potentially very dangerous since it is heated electronically, but Pierre also had it fixed immediately. The Chalet lacks a bit of color but the surrounding garden makes it easy to forget. Overall, Pierre is a good host and his Chalet is a fine place to stay near Quepos.

My family had a wonderful time here. Pierre was an amazing host. He was very patient and helpful. He made some great recommendations which made our stay unforgettable. The gran chalet was perfect and left us wanting to stay longer. His three dogs were very friendly with my son. We would love to come back here again. Merci Pierre!
i am already missing your such nice presemce : good luck

Phenomenal house, my favorite stay during our trip to Costa Rica. My only wish is that I could have stayed longer and gleaned more local info from Pierre. Also his dogs are adorable. The house is clean, comfortable and you can see so much wildlife from the porch. Close to Quepos, Manuel Antonio, and other gorgeous beaches. I really loved it, and would highly recommend a stay here.

I love Costa Rica and have spent thirty-two years living here in peace and harmony with nature. I share my living space with two old cats and three gentle boxers (dogs). I live a healthy lifestyle and and enjoy my interactions with tenants from all over the world. I have found my paradise and love sharing it with the other residents of the jungle.
