The Garden Suite is a lovely two-bedroom suite located on the ground floor of the Château des Sablons' coach house. This suite offers beautiful views of the gardens and the grounds of the château.

Château des Sablons is a beautiful 18th century château with a white stone façade. It is ideally situated on the edge of the medieval markettown Bourgueil which is amidst some the greatest castles in the heart of the Loire Valley.

The Garden Suite is a charming two-bedroom suite located on the ground floor of the Château des Sablons' coach house.

Guests in the Garden Suite are able to enjoy the swimming pool and grounds of the château. The grounds are designed to provide an enclave of peace and quiet and guests are encouraged to use the various tables and chairs in the park seating areas for coffee, drinks and meals. The château makes a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing or even in place of a day of sightseeing.

Sightseeing By Foot: You can choose to visit the area by foot, bicycle, train, or auto.

The Château des Sablons is only a 15 minute stroll from the center of Bourgueil. The town is well endowed with shops, including three butcher shops, five bakeries, three café-bars, five restaurants, a wonderful patisserie and a good newsagent’s shop for newspapers, etc. In addition there are two supermarkets, one in town that stays open Sunday morning and one just on the outskirts, the huge HyperU Supermarket.

The town is prosperous and enjoyable, and a center of wine production. The A.O.C. of Bourgueil is present on every wine list of any size in France and visiting the neighboring wineries (you’ll pass vines on the way into town) is one of our guest’s favorite activities.

Sightseeing By Bicycle: The Loire Valley in the part of France which is the most bicycle-friendly. A separate bike path has just been constructed beween the center of Bourgueil and the Loire. This kind of construction is becoming more common in the area. (A several hundred kilometer bike path runs along the south bank levee of the Loire.)

There are plenty of guides for visiting the region by bicycle, but the immediate area has three bike circuits of about 40 km that provides visitors with a unique visit to the area. One focuses on the vineyards and wine-producing areas, another on the old ports on the Loire, and another takes you up into the hills and along the Chaungeon to see the mills, etc.

You can also combine bicycle tours with the train to extend your range. Almost all local trains from the Port Boulet station 3.5 km from the château carry bicycles. This allows you to ride to Saumur on the bike and then take the train home, for instance.

Sightseeing By Auto: The Château has a very convenient location, being only 3.5 km from an exit from the A85 motorway. This allows you immediate access to the motorway and speeds you to some of the further distance châteaus such as Amboise (less than an hour), Chenonceau (45 minutes), Langeais (15 minutes), Villandry (20 minutes), Chinon (15 minutes), Saumur (25 minutes), Montosreau (15 minutes), Angers, Azay le Rideau….

This is a true gem of a place. The hosts are very friendly and helpful with great suggestions on places to visit in the Loire Valley. The grounds are very beautiful and a unique place to stay.

This is a lovely place, clean, well furnished, with all the necessary amenities you should require. The Chateau was beautiful and the environment calm and quiet. We went with two boys (13 & 10) so were a little concerned they may be too rowdy for the place. In fact it was all fine and we were made to feel very welcome. The pool is bigger than the pictures lead you to believe, the only downside is it's not heated. So although we could swim it was a little bracing and too cold for babies or toddlers. The village of Bourgueil is a stone's throw away and has all the things you may require, from traditional patisseries to supermarkets and garages. The Loire is beautiful and Chateau Villandry our favourite of all. Jean-Pierre was our host and he was friendly, informative and generally lovely. His dog Charlie was a huge hit with us and we will miss him especially.

The chateaux is stunning-it feels spectacular to stay in the grounds. The apartment is well equipped and George was an excellent host! Highly recommend- you can walk into Bourgeil for shops, restaurants, bars and markets in 10-15 mins. The Tuesday morning market in the centre is a must!

The chateau itself is located just over half a mile from the small town of Bourgueil, itself a great spot for exploring the region with an abundance of local vineyards, proximity to the river Loire and the grand chateaux such as Villandry. This small town is well-known for its wine and has restaurants, bars and an old abbey in which to while away the time. We stayed in one of the apartments in the old coach house, which was very spacious with high ceilings, large shuttered windows and, being made of stone, it was wonderfully cool all day in spite of temperatures in the mid 30's. It had good wifi and an Apple TV library should you fancy relaxing at home of an evening. It also had its own patio and table for a private drink or meal outside. The chateau is set behind gates and is very private and peaceful with a lovely terrace for sunbathing by the pool. George, the chateau's owner was extremely hospitable and is very knowledgeable about the area and much else besides. He was more than happy to take time to steer our sightseeing , or advise as to the relative merits of local restaurants, etc. A very enjoyable stay and I'd return again

We really enjoyed our stay and felt welcomed. The Chateau des Sablons is lovely, and 'our' Garden House apartment was perfect for us. The pool was a real bonus - very refreshing to have a swim at the end of a busy day's touring. We'd have liked to have had the time to stay longer!

Really good stay at Chateau des Sablons. Beautiful castle, nice accomodations (really comfy beds, large rooms, well equipped kitchen...), private terrace with table and chairs, comfy pool (no heating, so quite energizing). Warm welcome by Jean-Pierre and advices about visits around.

My husband and our two kids (ages 5 and 8) stayed in the quiet, clean, and roomy Garden 2-bedroom apartment. Our host was very nice and communicative. Access to the property and check-in/check-out was smooth. We enjoyed the pool. Bourgueil is a very small, quiet town with a good bakery and is an easy drive to some beautiful castles.
