This cosy bolt hole is one of the single story wing chalet's attatched to either end of Plas-Y-Berllan. Meaning Head of the Green Lane, It's the perfect escape for a couple or young family looking to get away from it all.
This place is great! Under 10 minutes to Cardigan by car, and right on the edge of the national park. There were excellent walking trails minutes from the cottage, as well. The cottage was great! It was very comfortable, and Pete set us up with maps and and ample supply of coal for the stove. We definitely had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves to the fullest. The building also had a lot of character, and was located well off of the main road, so it was quiet. I would definitely stay again!
We had a lovely time at Albro Castle. Pete was so welcoming and helpful, and there were even fresh flowers and fruit upon our arrival! He had the fire on, and the whole place was beautiful. We did a piece of the Wales Coastal Path at his recommendation, and the views were absolutely stunning - definitely check it out if you can. We loved everything about our stay, and wish we could've stayed even longer! Thanks so much for your hospitality. Melissa, Matt, and Kathleen
A wonderfully peaceful location, but not far from 'civilisation'. The cottage is so cosy and comfortable. We felt at home immediately. There is a coal stove in the main room that keeps the house really warm - don't worry if you've not had experience in keeping this kind of fire going, Pete is really helpful in explaining what to do. The cottage was perfect for us, very quiet and removed from hustle and bustle (although, to be fair, hustle and bustle in the part of the world is very far removed from most places!) but within walking distance of good pubs, the river, Poppit Sands and other beautiful locations, which the dogs loved! Albro Castle itself is just beautiful and you really feel like you've escaped as you drive up the lane. Everything has been sympathetically restored and the simplicity of the place is a real breath of fresh air. Although there is no WiFi, out phone signals were strong enough to stay in touch with the outside world. There were fresh flowers and a bowl of fruit in the cottage when we arrived, which was a lovely touch. Locally, make sure you visit the market in St Dogmaels on Tuesday which is well worth a visit. Other paces worth a visit... Pizza Tipi, Bara Menyn, Queens Bakery in Cardigan; The Ferry Inn, Teifi Netpool in St Dogmaels.
Had a brilliant time at Albro Castle! The main living space was a lot bigger than we were expecting, and the whole house was lovely!! We loved the fire, and the flowers and fruit were such a great touch. Pete was extremely helpful, and gave us some great walking tips! There's a few great pubs in walking distance, and a number of good walks from the door. Can't recommend enough, would love to come back!
