*Attention to first time users of Airbnb* This is not a private apartment for rent. I live here and I also have another smaller room listed on the site! My apartment is on the third floor of a three flat brick building on a quiet tree lined street in Edgewater. It was built 1916 in Prairie style featuring high ceilings, amazing woodwork and stained glass all of which have been restored. I'm a big fan of flea markets and antique stores so my home is filled with beautiful curiosities. My friend calls it "The museum" but don't let that scare you :) The place has a really comfy and peaceful vibe. It is spacious and open in the way that one can stand at one end of the apartment and see through to the other end. There is an enclosed sunporch in the front of the house which offers a serene view of the tops of trees. The bedroom I can offer has a comfortable double bed and a most prized Eastlake antique dresser with egyptian pharaoh head drawer pulls. There is one shared bathroom in the apartment.
P.S. I usually do not accept requests without a good amount of information about the guests. So please write a detailed profile and put up some pictures. If there is more than one guest include pictures of both people. Thank you!
Guest are welcome to use the kitchen and refrigerator. Also feel welcome to make yourselves at home in the rest of the apartment. There is one shared bathroom.
Please let me know if you intend on bringing a vehicle. There is permit parking on my street so depending on the duration of your stay, we would need to discuss the options!
I would ask that my guests come in and out quietly after 10:00 pm. Also would so appreciate opening and closing doors to bathroom and bedroom quietly after 10:00!
Please respect the antique furniture: use coasters for drinks and beware of things that might scratch surfaces or get the wood wet.
Do not bring anyone else into my apartment without asking.
Do not forget to return the keys. Thanks!
I am currently on a new path=which really means I lost my job and I want to try something different. I have done quite a bit of international travel and hope to do a lot more. I love people. I am an artist, card maker and writer. I am obsessed with postcards. I'm really in love with Chicago and although I've lived here my whole life I continue to discover new treasure!
Some things that I love: Writing, reading, bicycling, coffee, trying different types of food, yoga, movies, old cemeteries, art museums, photography, vintage postcards, pen pals, architecture, antique markets, folk art, tiles, decorative metal, wine, beer, and a well crafted cocktail and of course, traveling!!!
I believe good things can come from seemingly bad things: the symbolic opening of a new door.
I strive to be present, recognize beauty, project love, and be extremely grateful for my life. Each person I meet reinforces my belief in a world full of love and kindness and every new friend makes it a better place. Traveling has been my most valuable education.
Places I have traveled: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Monaco, Morocco, Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Wales
