Great location

Nice place in a great part of xberg! Thanks for hosting!

Sara was a great host- extremely responsive and offered many nice suggestions tailored to our interests. Her apt is very close to the U-Bahn. The area is very diverse and energetic and has a neighborhood feel. Sara's apt was very clean and comfortable and perfect for our 3 day stay.

Sara was very helpful and the apartment was overall pleasant. The location is good and within a 10min walk one has access to memorable cafes and bars.

Sara could not have been more accommodating, generous, or friendly. She left he apartment clean and nice to come to and I felt that her pictures accurately conveyed the space. She was kind enough to give me some pointers in her neighborhood and I could not have enjoyed the area more!

Beautiful place! Great location. Sara was wonderful - she left flowers and wine and went above and beyond. Highly recommend this place for anyone.

I liked Sara's apartment and all of my communication with Sara was great. Unfortunately I must mention that I had a problem with her mother, who checked me in and out of the apartment while Sara was away. The apartment itself is basic and simple, but comfortable and very clean. It is a studio on the second floor of a building with two courtyards, which means it felt extra secure. The kitchen is equipped for cooking. I rented this apartment because it had a bathtub, but when I arrived I learned that the bathtub was broken. The neighborhood is cool, with hip bars and restaurants on the inner streets, and grittier places on the main streets. Sara's mother was nice when she checked me in (she does not speak much English and I have no German, but we were able to communicate with smiles and nods.) But on the day before my departure, she entered the apartment with her own key while I was doing dishes in my underwear. In a very agitated state, she demanded that I leave immediately. For five minutes, in my underwear (she gave me no space or privacy to get dressed), and feeing very uneasy, embarrassed, vulnerable, and fearful that I was about to get thrown out of the apartment, I tried to explain that my departure date was not until the next day. She would not relent, insisting that I leave NOW. Finally she realized her mistake and left. I was so unnerved by the experience that I felt very uncomfortable for the next 24 hours. It really rattled me, especially that feeling that my privacy had been violated. This is probably a unique event, and as I said, the apartment, neighborhood, and communication with Sara were all good.
I am very irritated to read that Lauren was so very much disturbed by the misunderstanding regarding the time of her check-out and that she says, it has caused her such a disturbance. I would have suggested that she mentioned something to me if she experienced the situation in the way she describes it, and with the effect it had on her, rather than letting me only read about it in her review. Which I consider exaggerated and false presentation of facts. If my guests felt their privacy violated at any point I would expect them to contact me, the host ( maybe if one was so irritated not right away, but clearly at some point) and even ask for a refund. Regarding the severeness depicted here, I would totally understand that. But no such thing happened, she didn´t approach me and I read about the troubles it caused her only now. It is true that the day of departure has been confused by my mother who accidentally stopped by too early to pick up the key. I apologize for the inconvenience this might have caused as well as for the fact that Lauren was not able to use the bathtub to take a bath only to shower. By no means however can I understand why Lauren chooses to defame my mother in such a way. I have not been part of the incident myself, however my mother is a successful Airbnb host herself and I couldn´t imagine why she would behave towards any of my or her own guests in the way depicted. We are very much aware that such a treatment of our guests would harm only ourselves in the end and that there is nothing but negative reviews to gain from it. I learned that Lauren seemed surprised when she was asked to reimburse me fully for a water boiler, she had broken during her stay. I think it is only fair to refund a host if one brakes something during the stay. If one doesn´t agree to be solely responsible for damages, I think things can be easily solved by Airbnb´s mediation. Nevertheless it should be mentioned to the host if one doesn´t agree. It would be sad to think that my mother´s insisting on the refund motivated this bad review. Further I would like to mention that out of courtesy we always ring the door bell first when we expect the guest to still be in the apartment. This would be the case if keys have not been handed back yet. Maybe in this case it has not been (URL HIDDEN) goes without saying that one would ring the door bell first and not just enter. For the time the apartment is rented we consider it the guest´s private space and neither my mother nor I would willingly intrude and violate someone´s privacy like that. I have been informed about the misunderstanding by my mother, and didn´t think that it caused any further trouble to any of them as they parted in a friendly manner as I was told. The guest herself never mentioned anything towards me, when we were still in touch. I recommended Lauren in my review to other hosts, because I thought all in all she was a great guest and took good care of my place and our communication was good. We kept in touch during her stay and I was not aware of any problems during her stay. I am really unhappy about how the situation went down and encourage every future guest to inform me right away in case they don´t feel comfortable or find anything that causes their discontent !
