Beautiful Cottage in the Himalaya's
Beautiful Cottage in the Himalaya's

Our cottage is nestled in the foothills of the Himalaya's just outside the picturesque little town of Ranikhet in Uttrakhand, India. It is at a height of around 6,600 feet above sea level and all the rooms look out on a vista of the Uttrakhand Himalaya's. We have three bedrooms with attached baths, a fully functional kitchen, running hot and cold water and a nearby catering facility for food. Two bedrooms and a deck can sleep 6 people and we occupy the third bedroom. There are loads of things to see and do around Ranikhet and you can get more info at (URL HIDDEN)

We love hosting people from different nationalities, love food, drink and good times!

The closest railway station is Kathgodam and there are taxis & buses from there to Ranikhet. There is also a golf course close by for those who can't dream of a holiday without their golf fix!

If you use anything in the house, please replace or pay the caretaker for a replacement.

Please do not smoke inside the house. Outside anywhere is fine.

需爬楼梯 - There is about a 100 foot walk from where you can park a car to the front door of our cottage. There are also a few steps to climb.
房源里养有宠物 - Only completely toilet trained and non damaging to household goods.
房源里不能停车 - You need to park in a common area around 100 feet away from the cottage.
便利设施缺陷 - Electricity does go sometimes in the mountains due to weather conditions. While we do have an inverter for fans and lights it does not work on heaters

Excellent location with a lovely place to sit out to enjoy the views. A very quiet and enchanting place. But do not expect much in terms of amenities. There in no working WiFi or TV. The caretaker is available only for short duration and keeps disappearing as he looks after other properties as well. Best to carry your own toiletries, bed-sheets and towels if you are finicky about cleanliness. Make sure you have a bucket of water in the bathroom all the time as the tap supply keeps going off. The kitchen, though, is fairly well equipped and you can cook your self good meals. The caretaker will help with cutting, chopping and the dishes, if he is around.

Overall a comfortable stay. Bobby was very quick to communicate and responded timingly to all questions. There were some issues with fittings and fixtures which when reported were promptly attended to. One big plus was the electric blankets which kept us warm in the night when temp dropped to 1 degree. We did not have our meals at the cottage as we were traveling in a group and eating elsewhere. Last 100 meters of the drive is a challenge but Rajender happily helped us with the luggage as we did not get the car down.

We had a wonderful stay at Mr. Desai's cottage. It offers spectacular views outside, and has a nice & cozy living room. If you love peace & tranquility, looking at beautiful cloud formations during rainy season or snow clad mountains on clear days, then this is your place. The caretaker Rajendra Bhaiya is a lovely person and would leave no stone unturned to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Our stay coincided with Mr. Desai's visit, and he hosted a wonderful dinner for us when we reached there. We had some great conversations and learned a lot about the local area & what it takes to settle down in this part of the world. All in all, we would gladly recommend this beautiful cottage to nature lovers.

It's a tranquil spot with a great view and a lovely place to stay in. You are not necessarily cut off from the amenities as it is all close by. The highlight of the trip was me spotting a leopard at night from the balcony crossing the first lawn. I couldn't believe it but yes it happened and it's considered to be lucky as most people who have lived their lives in he hills also may have seen one. Great neighbours, great food, well-connected host and a helpful caretaker that's all you need for a great time-off. Highly recommended place!!

Mr. Desai is a great host.. very hands - on when you need him. He explained the route map to us in great detail before we got there. Upon arrival, we were greeted with the lovely home style food prepared by the house help, Rajendra bhaiya. Coming to the property, it's a cosy, 2 bedroom cottage with an attic that doubles up as the library and TV room. The kitchen is well equipped. Do carry your own groceries if you wish to dish up something fancy. Basic groceries are available in the market nearby. Rajendra bhaiya is an ever smiling old man who'd be more than happy to arrange any supplies you need. Do remember to carry your own speakers as the ones there didn't seem to work. Pray for good weather. On days with clear skies, the vista itself is all the bang you need for your buck. You can see the peaks of Trishul and Nanda Devi from all the rooms. You may even choose to sit in the lawn outside and stare at the mountains for countless moments. Word of caution - the last 100 metres downhill to the property is treacherous. It's a very steep slope with hair pin bends.

My friends and I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage of Bobby’s. Frankly, we did not have very great expectations from this place because the current photos do no proper justice to the place where this cottage is nestled. Awestruck, once we reached there by the breathtaking view of the valley, we didn’t feel like budging and decided to ensconce ourselves in the cottage for the entire three days. It is an amazing place to detoxify with some amazing home cooked food by the caretaker. The chicken was as fleshy and fresh as it could get. You may even cook your own food as the cottage has all the necessary groceries. However, there is an option to order food from nearby resort/villa but I would recommend otherwise. You’ll love the place if you are an ardent reader or love music. Just snap one of the books from the shelf and enjoy outside in the porch with a superb view of Himalayas. So overall, if you’re looking for a place away from a typical commercial hill town, this place has a peaceful setting with no one around to bother you and a genuine hospitality, wherein, you may come alone, with family or friends. I definitely recommend a stay at this place and will be there again soon. I would like to thank Bobby (owner) for taking care of everything. Hold your breath and nerves during the last 200 meters of reaching the cottage. P.S: Get your own alcohol, guitar, board games, speakers etc. A pet friendly place.. Recommended route: via Bhimtal if you’re getting your own car..via Rampur/Corbett if you have a taxi as the hill route is picturesque and not worth missing but really really bad roads around Corbett.

We're a small family - my profile photo shows my wife, our two sons and myself. I love to cook, play the guitar & sing and walk in the hills. I also act and have done a lot of amateur theatre in Delhi and all over India. I believe that life happens just once and is too shor…
