Great place to stay! Its secure and has all the ammenties listed. Located right on the beach with a gate entry to leave your belongings while you enjoy the warm water. Very nice pool and bar area. As with most places in the DR, the locals look for tourist so be mindful of the prices. I would stay here again of i return to Juan Dolio.
I visited Villa Franchesca after a business trip in Santo Domingo, looking for some R & R on the beach for a few days. This is a great place to do that. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the appartment I was in was great, very clean and it looked like it had recently been renovated. I spent some time on the beach, which is a favourite place for locals, judging by the amount of people, and in the pool and garden, which are excellent. There are just two things to be aware of; as a single female traveller I didn't feel comfortable going out at night, Juan Dolio may be more suited to people travelling together. The other thing is that the Saturday night was very noisy from the surrounding bars, the Sunday it was quiet.
The listing description was not accurate because some photos depicted general rooms availability in this hotel, and not that specific room. Upon arrival, I called Luis to complain and he immediately accepted to put me in the room that was depicted in the photos. So to avoid that, maybe the photos should represent the specific room that is listed and not the best room which is at a higher price. I had an amazing stay, but, there is a but: I was very lucky to stay here when the hotel was empty. I was there by myself for 3 nights, which made me feel like I owned the place. But the very last day, a dominican family from New-York arrived. I think they were 10 of them, a couple, 4 kids, 2 teens, and the rest adults. And with them, hell began. Loud music in the pool area, making me become reclusive for the last night. The place itself is beautiful, clean, and the staff is amazingly courteous, specially the in house gardener (he does everything). I must warn you about one thing. Be careful about the 2 huge rottweilers that guard the place. They are let loose at night, so do not wander in the garden at night or early morning. If you have to, make sure you tell the gardener, so that he can lock them. These dogs almost ate me alive the first morning. Thank god I managed to run in a safe area. I want to thank Luis for his kindness. Over the phone. Luis is in Santo Domingo or Miami (I dunno for sure) but he's always a phone call away.
