Our guest-house is located in a quiet, friendly, family-orientated neighborhood about seven minutes walking-distance to the town’s center.
Tim was a wonderful host he greeted us at the front of his home when we arrived. We were hungry from the long drive and almost instantly had a few restaurants in mind that were close by. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful with the backdrop of a mountain so the view was awesome especially during the morning! Tim also had some numbers for some places that offered some activities to do during the day. We went rafting and paragliding both awesome experiences and I highly recommend them. The room had hot water and good water pressure*always a plus in this country! Overall our experience was great and I would look to stay at Tim's place again. If you aren't looking for anything extravagant and good value I would definitely give Tim's place a try.
Tim was very nice and helpful. He picked us up from the bus, answered our questions about the local area, and gave us a ride a couple of times (one of these really helped us out - we would have missed our bus to leave Jarabacoa otherwise because the fellow who was going to give us a ride had a flat tire). Tim also speaks English well (in addition to other languages) which was definitely a plus. The place is in a quiet neighborhood, and was spacious, clean, and well kept. It felt quite secure. It is maybe a 10 minute walk from the central park where many of the restaurants and shops are. The main problem we had was that the WiFi internet was basically nonfunctional when we were there, which meant we had to go into town to get online (which we needed to do several times, to book subsequent Airbnb reservations and for other reasons). I think the internet might have been out in the local area - so Tim may not have had any control over this. However, if WiFi is important to you, you may want to message Tim and ask if it's working before booking this place. Tim also connected us with a local guide (Monchi) with whom we spent two days touring the local waterfalls and mountains. Monchi was very friendly and laid back, and we enjoyed our days together. We would definitely recommend him as a guide.
My stay at Tim's guest house was superb!! He was kind enough to provide transportation to and from the jorabacoa bus station, which is only a 10 minute drive from his house. Tim and his family were extremely kind and attentive to all of my needs. Cheap and delicious meals were provided as well. The room was spacious, clean, and well worth the cost. His friend Monchy took me on several adventures and made sure I was never at a loss for fun things to do during my stay. Tim is also a great resource for info on entertainment, travel routes, and directions around the immediate area. I cannot give my stay anything less tan an A+!!! Thanks Tim!!! Mark
