Funky angles and open spaces in the heart of Phoenix's Melrose district-- the go-to area for thrifting and antiquing. 85 restaurants within 1 mile, 15-minute walk to lightrail, and close to public transport.
Smoking isn't allowed in the house, but you're welcome to smoke in the backyard by the firepit. There is a closed ashtray there for that purpose. Please dispose of butts in the outside bin on the southeast side of the front yard.
The house is not toddler-proof by any stretch of the imagination--not only breakables on lower shelves, but hard edges on the couches as they have wooden arm rests and hard corners on all the tables-- so if you're into free-range parenting and have a toddling wee one, we're probably not a great fit.
Please be respectful of neighbors when outside, and us and other guests while inside. This neighborhood is as much a peaceful oasis in the city for our neighbors as it is for us. :)
The kitty-girls are love-bugs, but its best to let them come to you. They don't like being picked up.
There are towel racks in both of the rooms, so please hang your towels there instead of over the shower, etc. Please put used towels in the bin in the bathroom when/if you take a fresh towel. Please be considerate of other guests and tidy up after yourself in the bathroom. Seat cover down and door shut when you're done, please! (Its a feng-shui thang)
Please be sure to wash your dishes right away and place them in the rack (or dishwasher) so things stay tidy. Please don't leave food or trash out on the counter- not only is it unpleasant, but no sense in tempting the kitties that would have you believe they're never fed ;)
Please let us know if you need something or if something isn't working. We can't help if we don't know!
Jacqueline: World traveler from Memphis, TN that has settled far earlier than I thought I would in Phoenix, AZ. Ecclectic in my tastes and friends, I ended up staying on after a student exchange in The Netherlands for 8 1/2 more years. Returned to the states in 2005 where I leveraged my 13 years in the classroom to start my own business. Love a game of pool as much as the opera, a good burger as much as a multi-plated meal, and am a master of the art of conversation.
Jason was born and raised in Minneapolis and came to Phoenix via Chicago to work in electronic engineering. Think you know the type? Not really. He plays the viola in 2 community symphonies. He also plays the piano. He loves travel and trying new things. He may be the quietest guy in the room, but he clearly enjoys himself and spreads his zen-vibe wherever he goes.
Jacqueline and Jason met at a tequila tasting party the summer of 2012 and their second date was to go see the opera La Boheme. That's how they roll- you never really know what's next.
