PLEASE READ MY REVIEW BEFORE YOU BOOK this place. I would hate to have this happen to someone else. I want to be fair to this place despite my terrible experience here. First of all, it is situated in a beautiful area - secluded mountains, quiet trail, wonderful animal sightings, probably great for someone who wants a retreat. The cabin's common areas are nicely decorated with rustic decor. The kitchen is nice, with coffee machines and silverware and other basics. Jonathan gave me a warm welcome. Now let me go on to what went wrong, and what led me to have to book a hotel for the remaining days after only spending 1 out of 5 nights here. Mind you, I came here during eclipse time so everything in Nashville was full - I ended up booking a hotel in Memphis, preferring the 3 hour drive into town rather than spending another minute in this cabin. 1. All running WATER in every single faucet of this cabin smells like human feces. You heard that right. It's because (according to another guest who had been there for a week) the filter that's suppose to get rid of sulfur broke, and the host didn't bother to fix it. When someone started using water in the kitchen, the whole place would smell like poop. Jonathan knows about this, and even told me that sulfur is harmless , it just smells bad. But I almost threw up when I brushed my teeth with this water. After enduring the smell and showering, I broke out in hives and my face was swollen. Turned out I'm allergic to sulfur. But even if you're not allergic, do you really want to deal with smelling feces in your vacation retreat cabin through your entire stay? Jonathan said that he would refund me when I complained and told him I'm leaving the property. He told me to cancel my reservation (probably so he could rent the remaining days to someone else). I cancelled my reservation, requested a refund, and never heard from him again. Also, it may help to mention that Jonathan and his family do not live in this stink water cabin - they live somewhere else. This kind of treatment is only reserved for Airbnb guests. 2. The whole cabin smells also like mold. It's very damp and gets no sunlight. The first thing you smell as you walk through the door is not the feces water but the mold. You don't get the feces water smell until someone starts the faucet. 3. You have zero cellphone signal in the house. The host pretends to offer wifi, but what he has is an AT&T hotspot that needs to remain very close to one certain window in order to barely function. One to two guest can probably log on at a time. More than that, it's so slow that it's impossible. However, during my reservation, Jonathan rented this cabin to EIGHT people. There was Me, my boyfriend, a...

Great place for a quiet retreat. Be aware, there is little to no cell service and no wifi.
I wish you would have contacted us as soon as you experienced any difficulty. Most folks have no problem with cell phone service at the Log House, but if you particular service is not strong in our area you could have easily used phone-over-wifi. There certainly is wifi service available there.. The wifi hotspot today gave a download speed of 2.59 Mbps and and upload speed of 0.32 Mbps. This speed is not good for movie downloads and other large files, but it is certainly good enough for texting, social networking, internet browsing, etc. Again if you would have as soon as you experienced difficulty, we could have helped you with your connectivity. Best, Jonathan

Jonathan's place was spacious, clean and quiet. It also was in close proximity to a 1200 acres Retreat Center which was a treat to mind and soul. I highly recommend.

Nice place to stay.

My husband and I were in the area for a rural wedding and we were looking to find a cabin-ish kind of place in the mountains, and we found one of the properties Jonathan owns. Our original location/room ended up accidentally getting double-booked, but Jonathan took care of us and upgraded our room to another property, which turned out to be awesome!! This large beautiful house hidden in the trees on a hill, overlooked two little ponds, a portion of a farm, and a stream--it was picturesque! We couldn't believe this beauty of a place was only a 17 min ride from Downtown Franklin. Then the inside of the house was absolutely gorgeous--I would recommend this place to a couple or a big group wanting to get away from some peace and quality time. Jonathan was always quick to respond with any info we needed, and we got to meet a staff member of his, who was also nice and accommodating. Check out all of Jonathan's properties through Big East Fork Retreat!

Thank you for the opportunity to stay at this awesome place! We are definitely glad we decided to stay outside the city of Nashville. Jonathan was very helpful when it came to suggesting where to eat and what to do locally. And also very helpful with the needs of guests.

Great place!! Away from the city noise yet close enough to drive to

We are the proud owners of Big East Fork Retreat, embedded in 1200 acres of pristine valley and ridge which creates the protected watershed at the head of Big East Fork Creek. It is located 30 minutes west of Nashville and 10 minutes north of Franklin.

We have been working on the retreat for several years and enjoy entertaining people passing through or staying for a week or two.

I am a physician and my partner is as well.

Looking forward to your stay!
